Thoughtful Thursday - Save Our Libraries

Today, we wanted to draw attention to the Save Libraries movement. You may have seen the twibbon on Twitter with the Save Libraries logo, well, here's the background information on the movement:

Save Libraries is a grassroots effort with a simple mission:

• To compile information about libraries in need of support by aggregating information about current advocacy efforts.
• To provide links to resource about advocacy for libraries.

SaveLibraries.org was created and is managed by Lori Reed and Heather Braum. We thank both Lori and Heather for collecting all the information about current campaigns and maintaining them on their website. Check out their right hand nav bar for details on state by state campaigns.

Some of you may have seen that last week, the American Library Association celebrated National Library Week. There are so many wonderful links on their home page including this one, from Neil Gaiman on Minnesota Public Radio discussing the subject of why he loves libraries. Be sure to listen to it, here.

So ask yourself -- how can you help your local public library? I know that Mundie Moms will be stopping by their local branches with a donations of books or to check out a few books or to participate in a story time reading. Libraries have given us so much and now it's our turn to give back and make sure that they keep their funding.
