Thoughtful Thursday-Alex's Lemonade Stand

This week we wanted to spotlight a wonderful organization that I first came to love through being involved with Twilight Moms. Many of us who are apart of Twilight Moms have become huge supporters for Alex's Lemonade Stand. It has become an official Twilight Moms charity, and one that many of us who hosted midnight or early showings for Eclipse, all helped raised money for. Our local group in Austin raised over $500 alone for the stand.

Meet Alex, the brave 8 yr old girl who not only fought hard to battle her childhood cancer, but left a legacy of what it means to lose yourself by serving others. Alex, at the tender age of 4 started Alex's Lemonade Stand to raise money to help fight Childhood Cancer. Before she died, she wanted to raise $1 million dollars, and she accomplished that goal! Since Alex started her first lemonade stand, here's what they've done:

"We have raised more than $30 million, with more than $12 million of those dollars coming from lemonade stands. That money has helped to:

• Fund more than 150 cutting-edge research projects

• Create a travel program to help support families of children receiving treatment

• Develop resources to help people everywhere affected by childhood cancer"

Alex has left behind a wonderful legacy and she's proved, that one person can make a difference. Together, we can all help fight the battle against Childhood Cancer. 1. I adore what ALS does. This kind of grassroots fundraising for a very important cause will get the job done as far as getting people to realize they can make a difference. Thank you so much for featuring this amazing organization!!!
