It moves me when an author creates a world so vivid, that reading the book is like visiting. Closing the covers is like surfacing. There's something magical about transportive fiction- probably the only real magic we have anymore.
When an author can put down black words on white paper, and leave you seeing in color- isn't that miraculous? Isn't that brilliant?
Mundie Moms know all about new worlds- The Mortal Instruments transforms everyday New York into otherworldly New York, teeming with the unseen.
And it's not just cities that are remade with enchanted writing fingers. Sometimes it's small, southern towns or unnamed villages in the heart of a deathclad forest- and it's all amazing.
So to celebrate new worlds, new visions, and a whole new year for the Mundie Moms, I'd like to share my own book and two of my favorite places to go. Carrie Ryan's THE FOREST OF HANDS AND TEETH is an amazing descent into the darkness of a primeval forest, and BEAUTIFUL CREATURES wrenches the steam and secrets out of a small South Carolina town called Gatlin. Just leave a comment, and you'll be entered to win all three books!
Happy birthday, Mundie Moms- happy exploring!
