Blogger Appreciation Week- New Treasure

This year we took part in Book Blogger Appreciation Week. It was a lot of fun, as I have met a wonderful blogger whom I may not have other wise met. Suzanne with Bibliosue and I were paired up to interview each other. I'm glad I was paired with someone I didn't know, as I have found another great blogger to follower. Suzanne's blog expanded my "To Read" piles (which won't stop growing) with a variety of books I hadn't thought to read. Not only do we share a love for reading, but we're both Aunt's to twins. She has nieces and I have nephews.

What inspired you to start your blog?
I love to talk about what I've read, but because of my diverse tastes a lot of the books I read are not read by anyone I know "in real life". I started following blogs last year, and thought that it would be a good idea to start my own.

Do you review or post about every book you read?
No, I don't. If I've received a book from a publisher or another blogger, then I will definitely write about it, but there are some books I find I don't feel any "passion" for one way or another to put down my thoughts about it.

Your blog is well-done, with various gadgets like animation, video, and countdowns. How much time do you spend working on your blog?
As I view my blog as a hobby, I spend about two or three hours per week on it. I would like to spend some time learning how to jazz it up, though.

What's your favorite genre to read?
I am curious about almost everything, so I don't have a true favorite genre. I suppose that I prefer literary fiction and travel narrative/memoirs more than other genres, but there are very few genres that I will avoid completely.

How would you describe your blog?
I've only been at it for about 10 months, so I'd describe my blog as a work in progress. I talk about a wide range of books (fiction and non-fiction) and I'm working on a weekly Ulysses project (where I blog about my progress through this book) so I guess the blog is also kind of eclectic.

Thank you so much Suzanne. It was great getting to "meet" you and I'm looking forward to following your blog.

Book Review- Love Sucks!

Published by Harper Teen
Released on July 27, 2010
Source: Publisher
3 Stars- It was a good read!

Synopsis (from HarperTeen) AJ Ashe may have gotten rid of her vampire stalker and her evil ex-teacher, but things are hardly back to normal. For one thing, she still has to maintain a strict look-but-don't-touch policy with Ryan, her hot ex-boyfriend-turned-stepbrother. For another, she has to learn to control her vampire superpowers—which means more than a few dates with Lex, mind-reading professional vampire trainer and too-sexy-for-his-own-good bad boy. And as if that's not enough, she happens to be the key to her father's plans to take over the world . . . and he'll stop at nothing to get what he wants.

All this and she's still got to plan the prom. Being a teenager is tough, but being a teenage vampire just flat out sucks!

In Love Sucks! the sequel to Bite Me we find AJ and her family living in the same house with Ryan her ex who is now her stepbrother, which causes a lot of tension and crazy mixed feelings between them. Her family of vampires and step family of wizards are trying to protect her pregnant mother from the demons that want to prevent the birth of the baby that will fulfill an ancient prophecy. At the same time AJ and Ryan are trying to forget about each other as a couple and work together to find the powerful Runes before they get into the hands of AJ's evil vampire father. Since AJ also has a problem keeping her mind closed from the evil demons she gets two really hot British vampire trainers to help her and train her. From then on the story gets even more fun and interesting with the introduction of new characters and a love interest that turns AJ's already complicated love life into a love triangle.

Love Sucks! was a great sequel to Bite Me, it was fun and easy to read, full of fast paced action from the beginning and a lot of teenage drama mainly from AJ. The characters, even though in my opinion were not as well developed as I like, were still very entertaining and likable, full of snark that had me laughing a few times and rolling my eyes at others. AJ was a tough and brave but also very girly and extremely confused about her feelings for both of the guys in the story. I kept being reminded of Buffy the Vampire Slayer while reading this book. It was a lot of fun but I only wished that AJ had been able to put all that training to use and see her fight a little bit more, instead we get a lot more wizard action from Ryan and his brothers. Overall I really enjoyed it and definitely recommend it. I'm pretty sure if you love chick lit and/or paranormal you'll enjoy this series which has a great mixture of both plus a new interesting and different twist to the whole vampire world.
