We are so excited that Clockwork Angel is #3 on Barnes & Nobles Must Have Teen Reads!!! You can see their list here

Now for Mundane Monday! I am so sorry this is so late. I had this ready to post earlier today, but wanted to post it later in the day to announce that tomorrow for the BIR2010, we have 2 copies of Clockwork Angel to giveaway! You know it's one of our favorite reads of 2010!! Be sure to visit us tomorrow to enter to win CWA and a few other goodies.

"Tessa," Will said with exaggerated patience. "Enough. There are certain things you can't hope to understand."

If there was one thing Tessa hated, it was being told that there were things she couldn't understand. Because she was a young, because she was a girl-for any of a thousand reasons that never seemed to make any real sense. She set her chin stubbornly. "Well, not if you won't tell me. But then I'd have to say that it looks a great deal like she hates you because you did something awful to her."

Will's expression darkened. "You can think what you like. It's not as if you know anything about me."

"I know you don't like giving straightforward answers to questions. I know you're probably around seventeen. I know you like Tennyson- you quoted him at the Dark House. I know you're an orphan, as I am-"

"I never said I was an orphan." Will spoke with unexpected savagery. "And I loathe poetry. So, as it happens, you really don't know anything about me at all, do you?"

And with that, he spun on his heel and walked away.

Book summary (from goodreads.com):

Frannie Cavanaugh is a good Catholic girl with a bit of a wicked streak. She's spent years keeping everyone at a distance—even her closest friends—and it seems her senior year will be more of the same...until Luc Cain enrolls in her class. No one knows where he came from, but Frannie can't seem to stay away from him. What she doesn't know is that Luc works in Acquisitions—for Hell—and she possesses a unique skill set that has the King of Hell tingling with anticipation. All Luc has to do is get her to sin, and he’s as tempting as they come. Frannie doesn’t stand a chance.

Unfortunately for Luc, Heaven has other plans, and the angel, Gabe, is going to do whatever it takes to make sure that Luc doesn’t get what he came for. And it isn't long before they find themselves fighting for more than just her soul.

But if Luc fails, there will be Hell to pay…for all of them.

With all the fantastic new releases this year, what new release has become your guilty pleasure?

You’re not seriously going to make me pick just one…because that’s cruel and unusual punishment. Nope. You’re getting the list whether you like it or not. ;p

Kody Keplinger’s The Duff, because, not only is Kody about the cutest and nicest person I’ve ever known, but she writes a killer story with a totally delicious man-whore who I’m still lusting after ten months after reading the thing.

Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan because I hardly stopped laughing through that entire book. The writing is sheer genius.

I’m going to include the Nightshade series by my fab critique partner, Andrea Cremer, because it’s a kick-ass trilogy. And, Ren… That’s all I have to say about that.

And, I hate to say it, but Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins still has me picking it up to re-read sections, just to make sure…

If you were able to add in a favorite literally character to your book, who would you pick and why?

Fred Weasley, because everyone in my book takes themselves way too seriously.

What inspired you to become a writer?

My daughter. I never would have written a thing if she didn’t love to read.

As a teen, if you were friends with one of your characters, who would it be and why?

Wow… Well…I would have pounced on Luc and Gabe for sure, but I wouldn’t have really been interested in friendship, if you know what I mean… So, I have to say Riley. To me, she’s the epitome of a best friend. She truly cares about Frannie and wants her to be happy. She’s also honest and loyal. I can’t imagine a better friend.

If you could have a paranormal power, would it be or what would you want to be (ie. shadowhunter, werewolf etc)

That’s a tough one. I can tell you what I wouldn’t want to be. Even though they’re, like, crazy strong, fast, beautiful, and also sparkly, I couldn’t do the blood thing, so vampire is out. I have a thing about dog breath, so werewolf wouldn’t work. Angels have way too many rules. Demons too, though Luc is glaring at me as I write this and I’m getting just a little bit—okay, a lot—nervous. Fairies are kind of cool, I think. I wouldn’t mind being Aislinn and just making it summer all the time. Yeah…that’s what I’m going with. I want to be the Summer Queen. And it wouldn’t suck to have Seth with a side of Keenan. ;p

Thank you Lisa for being with us today and for sharing your list with us. We knew Jace would make you give us the list. LOL

The Scorch Trials: Sequel to the Maze Runner
By James Dashner
Released Oct 12, 2010
Published by Delacorte Books for Young Readers

The Maze was only the beginning...

Solving the Maze was supposed to be the end. No more puzzles. No more Variables. And no more running. Thomas was sure that escape meant he and the Gladers would get their lives back. But no one really knew what sort of life they were going back to.

In the Maze, life was easy. They had food, and shelter, and safety... until Teresa triggered the end. In the world outside the Maze, however, the end was triggered long ago.

Burned by sun flares and baked by a new, brutal climate, much of the earth is a wasteland. Government has disintegrated--and with it, order--and now Cranks, people covered in festering wounds and driven to murderous insanity by the infectious disease known as the Flare, roam the crumbling cities hunting for their next victim... and meal.

The Gladers are far from done running. Instead of freedom, they find themselves faced with another trial. They must cross the Scorch, the most burned-out section of the world, and arrive at a safe haven in two weeks. And WICKED has made sure to adjust the variables and stack the odds against them.

Thomas can only wonder--does he hold the secret of freedom somewhere in his mind? Or will he forever be at the mercy of WICKED?

Lily Sanderson has a secret, and it’s not that she has a huge crush on gorgeous swimming god Brody Bennett, who makes her heart beat flipper-fast. Unrequited love is hard enough when you’re a normal teenage girl, but when you’re half human, half mermaid like Lily, there’s no such thing as a simple crush.

Lily’s mermaid identity is a secret that can’t get out, since she’s not just any mermaid – she’s a Thalassinian princess. When Lily found out three years ago that her mother was actually a human, she finally realized why she didn’t feel quite at home in Thalassinia, and she’s been living on land and going to Seaview high school ever since, hoping to find where she truly belongs. Sure, land has its problems – like her obnoxious, biker boy neighbor Quince Fletcher – but it has that one major perk – Brody. The problem is, mermaids aren’t really the casual dating type – when they “bond,” it’s for life.

When Lily’s attempt to win Brody’s love leads to a tsunami-sized case of mistaken identity, she is in for a tidal wave of relationship drama, and she finds out, quick as a tailfin flick, that happily-ever-after never sails quite as smoothly as you planned.

Genre: YA Fiction

The Synopsis: (from Simon & Schuster)The sequel to the New York Times Best selling phenomenon, Hush, Hush!

Nora should have know her life was far from perfect. Despite starting a relationship with her guardian angel, Patch (who, title aside, can be described anything but angelic), and surviving an attempt on her life, things are not looking up. Patch is starting to pull away and Nora can't figure out if it's for her best interest or if his interest has shifted to her arch-enemy Marcie Millar. Not to mention that Nora is haunted by images of her father and she becomes obsessed with finding out what really happened to him that night he left for Portland and never came home.

The farther Nora delves into the mystery of her father's death, the more she comes to question if her Nephilim blood line has something to do with it as well as why she seems to be in danger more than the average girl. Since Patch isn't answering her questions and seems to be standing in her way, she has to start finding the answers on her own. Relying too heavily on the fact that she has a guardian angel puts Nora at risk again and again. But can she really count on Patch or is he hiding secrets darker than she can even imagine?
