Food For Thought

Did you know today is International Women's Day? If you did, you're ahead of the game, as I had no idea. Personally I feel like I fall short in keeping up with all the various days that seem to have popped up lately on the calendar. Not to sound rude or anything, as I think a lot of them have great messages, like today's video in support of Women's Day, which I found on Andrea Cremer's site.

Nightshade, TMI, and many other YA books have done a great job at tackling inequality between the various characters. It doesn't matter if the characters are paranormal or human. I grew up thinking that if I tried hard enough I could do most anything the boys could do if I worked hard enough at it. Yes, there are some things both sexes can do and some things women are better at and some things men are better at doing, but that shouldn't stop anyone from trying to do what ever is they want to do. I hope that makes sense and I know this is a touchy subject for some people. I'm not trying to single anyone out, but being a women I am standing up for those who need a voice.

This video has a powerful message and I don't think anyone could have said it better than Dame Judy Dench and Daniel Craig.....

Do you think we're closer to equality as a whole? You can find out more information about the video and the message here. What do you think, besides the obvious that Daniel Craig can pull off looking good dressed in drag or dressed as James Bond.

  1. I think we're getting there in some arenas (sports, certain careers, etc), but still behind in others (business exec, politics, etc). But better than we were!

(Daniel Crag - oh, my, yes...)
