Wings Read Along Chapters 23-25

Welcome to Day 7 in our Wings Read Along! If you haven't already, please be sure to download your FREE ebook of Wings from one of these sites here- Today we're discussing chapters 23-25

Chapter 23- Tamani gets shot, Barnes gets away and Laurel learns more about her heritage. I love the fact that the fae will do everything to make sure the land stays in Laurel's name, but I'm curious to know what will happen next with Barnes. What are your thoughts about this chapter?

Chapter 24- I like the way the story is tying together, while leaving a lot open for it's sequel Spells (which you haven't read I recommend picking up). What are your thoughts on how everything is happening?

Chapter 25- Tamani and Laurel. *sigh* Finally they kiss! Now that we've gotten to know both David and Tamani more, which character do you want Laurel to choose? What are you looking forward to happening in Spells? I can't wait to see more of Avalon.

Tomorrow we'll wrap up our Wings Read Along by discussing our overall thoughts on the book.

  1. Chapter 23: I was disappointed to see Barnes get away, but you definitely get the feeling you haven't seen the last of him. Now he knows that Laurel is a fairy he will definitely be more cautious.

Chapter 24: I can see how the story is tying up. I really wish we had gotten to see the whole scene where Laurel explains everything to her parents. The interruption was a bit frustrating, because I really wanted to know how she was going to pull that off and see the reaction she would get. At least we did get to see part of it. You can tell that they are leaving the story open for the sequels. There is just too much left unfinished.

Chapter 25: I still don't know which character I want Laurel to choose. Tamani knows what she is while David seems to accept her no matter what he finds out about her. Either choice will present complications. I do want to know more about Avalon. I feel like we haven't even brushed the surface on that.

  2. Chapter 23. I was surprised that Barnes got away, but it makes sense once you know there are other books in the series. I liked how the fae took care of Tamani right away, and helped Laurel with everything. I liked Jamison and I really want to know more about Avalon, also the description on the door and everything reminded me how Clary and Jace see a bit on Idris in CoB through the portal...

Chapter 24. I was shocked when Laurel decided to tell her parents, but then again what exactly could she have said ? It's nice that in this series the parents are in on everything, whether opposed to a lot of YA I have read they are oblivious about what's going on with their kids; I did think that the faeries were going to use a spell on then or something, but I'm glad they didn't, it's easier for Laurel now, and I loved how David said she shouldn't have to hide in her own house, that's definitely true.

Chapter 25. TAMANI, ALL THE WAY. I was so sad when the book ended and she choose David after everything Tamani confessed to her :( To be honest, I don't see the point in Laurel living her human life after she knows she's a faerie, I get that Laurel want to protect her parents but I think there are other ways, if it was me I would be incredibly curious about Avalon and those 7 lost years of my life.

I look forward to knowing more about the faerie world, and Laurel's connection to it, AND of course Tamani and Laurel being together :')

I read both excerpts that this download brought and I'm pissed because I got spoiled about pretty much everything (I just couln't stop reading), but I do plan on reading Spells and Illusions and what comes next, I loved Wings.

  4. Chapter 23: I had a feeling Barnes would get away. I think he will show up in at least one or two of the sequels! He is the ultimate villain for this series.

Chapter 24: Can't remember if this is the chapter where Laurel stands up for what she feels she needs to do and that is go back to living her human life instead of being with Tamani. I like that because in a lot of the fantasy books the kids leave the 'normal' for the exciting new world that they come into. I think it will be interesting to see how long she will keep that as her choice.

Chapter 25: I don't know who to pick for Laurel but I think she is totally being selfish! I know a lot of people would not agree, but think about it. She is all about using david when she needs a friend, a shoulder to cry on, a boyfriend, a confidant, a worker and chauffeur. Someone to almost DIE with! Then in a blink she is snuggling into Tamani and kissing him. I understand they have a history, but girl needs to decide! I just think David has shown that he will do ANYTHING for Laurel, I mean he hung out in the car forever waiting for her! :) In the end I believe that Laurel will pick Tamani because all the memories will eventually come flooding back to her and she will return to her rightful place in Avalon at some point.

    Just my thoughts!
