It's OFFICIAL- Jace Has Been Cast!

We can finally announce that the casting for Jace is done. Jamie Bower will be playing Jace in the upcoming movie, The Mortal Instruments Series. Jamie was in the top of Cassie's list of contenders, and she tweeted last week that she thought he'd do a great job at playing Jace. We're very excited to hear Jace has been cast and we're looking to hearing who the rest of the cast will be.

* I wanted to add what Cassie just emailed to her google group*
Yes. Jamie Campbell-Bower is Jace. And I am very happy about it. More info later. :)
We're looking forward to seeing what Jamie will bring to Jace's character on the big screen. Be sure to follow Cassie's blog, she'll be posting about the casting soon. You can also find her updated casting page here. We're rest assured by the casting choice knowing that Cassie is thrilled with the choice, and at the end of the day that's all that matters.

  1. Didn't he play Caius in New Moon?

  2. Not exactly how I pictured Jace but I'm sure he'll surprise us (I mean that in a good way). Hey, being one step closer to getting the film made can't be a bad thing! : )

  3. Okay, decent actor. I'm sure he can bulk up and movie magic can pretty him up a bit. Nothing wrong with how he looks, but I always assumed Jace was pretty, and Jamie is handsome in a grungy, scruffy kind of way.

  4. I have great faith in Jamie to become the Jace we all want him to be even if he isn't the Jace in my head. Can't wait until CoB hits theaters.

  5. Jamie does such a great job on Camelot, I'm sure he will make a fantastic Jace. Now I can't wait to see the rest of the cast.

  7. I'm sorry, but I am just a bit hesitant with this casting. Having said that, I recall Anne Rice adamantly NOT wanting Tom Cruise to play Lestat in "Interview with the vampire" and we know how well that ended. Off type casting may be better than we expect. ----VinSlayer

  8. I don't know much about him as an actor, but looking at this photo over others I have seen? Well, I am interested to see what he can do with Jace. He's no Alex, but...

  9. Well he is definitely not how I pictured Jace. But he is a great actor, better than Alex P imo (although as far as looks Alex was the perfect Jace to me). And that is more important. You can change a person's look for a movie. But you can't change bad acting. Plus Cassie approves, so I'm going to have faith that it will work out. Congrats to Jamie for landing this amazing role!

  10. I´m going to wait for the movie to tell if I like him or not as Jace, because I remember that many people didn´t like Robert Pattinson as Edward.
Jamie plays a role in New Moon and in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, right?

  11. I honestly don't know how I feel about this yet. I would have to see him in character first to actually have an opnion.

  12. I'm so happy with the Hunger Games casting so far. They've been really good about casting talented actors, not just the starlet of the minute.

  14. I have to admit that when I first heard that Jamie was being considered for the role of Jace I just couldn't picture him in the role. But, after giving it some thought, and since I'm currently re-reading the series of books, I've changed my mind! :) I'm very much looking forward to seeing how the movie turns out.

  15. Oh god i really dont like him in Camelot he's miscast for Arthur he's not pretty or bulky enough for Arthur and certernly not Jace. I guess i wont look forward to seeing Jace in the movies I'll just concentrate on Isabelle and Magnus.

  16. I am just sick about this. BAD, BAD, BAD choice for our Jace! Really ticked that Alex P. didn't see the opportunity handed to him. :(

  17. I never considered this option; however, the more I look at him the more I think it could work. Not to mention CASTING AGENTS KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING! :o)

  18. He's a great actor! He's fabulous in Camelot. I'm sad it couldn't be Alex Pettyfer, but I think he'll do a great job :)

  19. Cassie is so sweet to take this in stride. I think it wouldn't be so bad if we weren't all hoping for someone else. I imagine I'll get used to the idea. And who knows, he may do wonderful!

  20. He wasnt my first choice but as I already said, I am giving him a chance! I think after a couple of months working out and a good Jace's hair style he is gonna rock! and GIRLS!! dont forget the miracle of make up!!!! I think we need to see the final result and really see him with the Jace look on him XD. He might make us drool!! I think he is cute (not hot as Jace) but is still beauty nonetheless! The step from "cute" to "Hot" can be very short! ;). That, for the physical side of him.

Now for the acting, Im sure the producers choose him because from all of the dudes (including Pettyfer) was the one who really kick asses incarnating our beloved and egocentric Jace! Dont forget what happened with ROb Pattison when he was chosen to play Edward! I think Jamie could dazzle us with his acting skill!

The choice has been made, so people! start thinking positive!!

  21. I'll said it again… I'm pretty upset about this, I just can't stand him as an actor & now I will have to bear that he is Jace … I still don't know if I'm going to watch the movie or not … Maybe he'll suprise us, maybe I'll kill someone after ... For now, I'm very very sad and angry, that's it

  22. I really like Jamie, He's an amazing actor, and he can sing (at least in Sweeney Todd he could) Althoug his temples are a little to high IMO I think he's a good choice if he bulks up a bit!

  23. Seriously? I was so disappointed in him as Arthur that I stopped watching Camelot. I picture Jace as sexy, muscular, and irresitibly charming.
Jamie is none of the above. My excitement level for the movie has dropped...dramatically!!!

  24. He had better shave and change his hair...
He is most definitely not the image I had of Jace, but I can't deny that he can act, so maybe he will be able to pull it off. Just hope they can get the look right.
And hurry up and cast Simon, Alec and Iz already!!! This is taking way too long! Finish the casting at least!

  25. I dont know how to feel about this. I've only seen Jamie as Caius in New Moon. And I'm still FURIOUS that LILY COLLINS IS PLAYING CLARY!!! One of my fave book characters!!! But hey whatever she can have Jamie right now and not Taylor Lautner.

  26. I am a HUGE Jamie fan, from Twilight to Anonymous, and Camelot(which should not have been cancelled) and even the mini series "The Prisoner" from 2009, and of course Sweeny Todd!
I am very excited for his role as Jace, i go to all the Twilight conventions and have yet to met him, i hope to met him before TMI, before he has more followers, lol

  27. Im sorry but I just dont see it..When i read TMI I picture Jace alot different I was hoping they would have gotten some1 new never seen and he is cute but Jace is hott but hey I never would have cast Rob Patts as Edward and he ended up to be the greatest and I guess he can go to the gym..I really just dont want to wait n e longer for this Movie so Im sure it will be great
