Jack Colton and Joan Wilder in Romancing the Stone.
This 1980s hit stars a lonely romance novelist who finds herself in the middle of a treasure hunt/murder/smuggling plot in South America. Jack Colton, a rough-and-tumble American, comes to Joan’s rescue in the jungle and soon becomes torn between helping Joan and helping himself to the treasure. There are some serious laughs in this movie. I think it’s Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner at their finest.
Han Solo and Princess Leia from the Star Wars trilogy.
Oh, come on! Who doesn’t love a little Han? He’s so suave and cocky, and Leia cannot stand him. But alas, even the princess of Alderaan can’t resist Han for long. These two have the best banter, and that scene where he’s frozen in carbonite and Leia tells him she loves him…talk about a Sci-Fi sigh.
Indiana Jones and Willie from The Temple of Doom.
I think this may be my favorite Indy film of them all, and Kate Capshaw’s character is the reason why. She’s a spoiled nightclub singer who, in a series of unfortunate events, reluctantly ends up on an adventure with Indy in India. She and Indy have a chemistry that absolutely sizzles. OK, I need to go re-watch this one now…
Joseph and Shannon from Far and Away.
Haven’t heard of this one? Get thee to Netflix and drop it in your queue NOW. I saved this one for last because Joseph and Shannon (aka Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman) are officially my FAVORITE romantic adventure couple ever. They play Irish immigrants from totally different spheres, but both are seeking their fortune in America. It has it all: romance, history, bare-knuckle fist fighting…OK, so that one’s for the guys. Seriously. Watch it.
I love the movies Angie picked!!! Han and Leia...THAT classic banter = love!!! I need to watch "Far and Away"...that's the only one I haven't seen. Thanks for the rec.
ReplyDeleteExcellent choices! I love each of these movies. My favorite would have to be Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman in AUSTRALIA.
ReplyDeleteFar and Away is the only one on that list I haven't seen, so I'll need to go watch that one. But I absolutely love the other movies listed! I'm a bit of a sucker for romantic adventure couples myself.
