Banned Books Week Celebration came to end yesterday, and what an awesome week it was! I had totally planned on getting a post up, but when I got home from the Austin Teen Book Festival I was totally wiped out. It was a lot of fun, and it was great talking to other book lovers there about banned books.

The list of banned books will never cease to amaze or surprise me. I'll never understand why other people feel they have the right (which they don't) to tell others what they can and can't or should and shouldn't read. Ignorance isn't bliss and even though the week long celebration is over, we can continue to celebrate the FREEDOM TO READ by taking a stance and supporting our right to read. Pick up your favorite banned book and enjoy READING it!

Wow, I guess there really isn't any book that the banners won't try to ban!
ReplyDeleteEach year when that list is posted, it just scares me. Some of my most loved books are on there...minus Steinbeck but, that's more a question of taste vs. content. ;) Thank you for a great Banned Books Week series of posts, MMs.
