City of Fallen Angels Audio Book

I am so excited about Cassie's recent announcement about her City of Fallen Angels audiobooks!! We are HUGE fans of the TMI and ID audiobooks. Here's what Cassie said-

"Audiobooks are definitely a funny thing. I love listening to them and I know the voices can make or break the book. I've been lucky to like the readers for the first three TMI books and was ecstatic when Jennifer Ehle read Clockwork Angel because I've had a big ole fangirl crush on her since Pride and Prejudice. And she did a terrific job.

We've always used female readers even as the TMI books have grown out of being told only from Clary's perspective and into the perspective of the other characters. But we wanted to do something a little different for City of Fallen Angels because it really does split fifty-fifty, with about fifty percent of the book being Clary and the other fifty being Simon and Jace (with even some Magnus and Alec tossed in there.) So we decided to have a male reader for the male sections, and a female reader for the female sections. Since they were just confirmed this weekend, I can announce that the readers are:

Ed Westwick! Sorry, Gossip Girl is my secret love and Chuck especially so, as I have mentioned before, so I'm going to keep doing that. I hope he can bring his classic slightly evil drawl to Jace's sarcastic lines. I also have to say I am looking forward to him reading Magnus.

Reading the Clary sections of the book will be the adorable Molly Quinn, known to watchers of Castle:

Who is already a fan of the books, has great comic timing, and is cool enough to wear a Star Trek uniform to ComicCon.

So altogether let's just say I am super excited! Looking forward to recording starting." (quoted from Cassie's site)
Be sure to visit Cassie's site here to read more and you can see the picture of both Ed and Molly-

Blog Tour/Book Review- Dark Goddess

By Sarwat Chadda
Published by Disney Hyperion
To Be Released on January 25th, 2011 TOMORROW
Source- ARC from Disney Hyperion
5 Stars- Fantastic Read

New enemies, new romance, and new horrors,

Billi's back, and it seems like the Unholy just can't take a hint.

Still reeling from the death of her best friend, Kay, Billi's thrust back into action when the Templars are called to investigate werewolf activity. And these werewolves are like nothing Bilil's seen before.

They call themselves the Polenitsy - Man Killers. The ancient warrior women of Eastern Europe, supposedly wiped out centuries ago. But now they're out of hiding and on the hunt for a Spring Child -- an Oracle powerful enough to blow the volcano at Yellowstone -- precipitating a Fimbulwinter that will wipe out humankind for good.

The Templars follow the stolen Spring Child to Russia, and the only people there who can help are the Bogatyrs, a group of knights who may have gone to the dark side. To reclaim the Spring Child and save the world, Billi needs to earn the trust of Ivan Romanov, an arrogant young Bogatyr whose suspicious of people in general, and of Billi in particular (quoted from Goodreads).

Dark Goddess is a fantastic, action packed sequel that completely blew me away. Be prepared to fasten your seatbelt when you sit down to read this book, as Sarwat's talent for story telling will introduce you to more fantastic characters, as he unravels his richly detailed story, full of history and folklore. This time Billi and the Knights Templar leave London behind for the city and woods of Russia to protect Vasalisa, a Spring Child that the witch Baba Yaga wants.

Billi is a character who continues to amaze me. The heartache she dwelt with at the end of Devil's Kiss hardens her up a bit in Dark Goddess, which I completely sympathized with. Not wanting to fall victim to a broken heart again and feeling responsible for the lives lost in war with Michael, Billi loses herself to the cause of the Knights Templar. That's until she meets her match with Ivan (Tsarevich Ivan Alexeivich Romanov), who has a lot in common with her and is a character I loved getting to know. Together, Billi and Ivan help each other in ways no one else is able to and I loved their scenes together. Their chemistry is an added bonus to this story.

This is such an intriguing story, as Sarwat merges together the Knights Templar with the Russian lore, mixing together the history of Tsar Alexei's family with that of Baba Yaga, throwing in paranormal characters set in modern day. The scenes are so vivid that at times I felt like I was watching a movie. There is some amazing action scenes between the Knights Templar, the werewolves (who have a rich history all their own tied to Baba Yaga), and the Bogatyrs.

If you're looking for a book that has it all, then Dark Goddess is a book you need to pick up! All I can really say is WOW! I was completely blown away with this face paced, sequel to Devil's Kiss. Dark Goddess has a riveting, twisted plot that makes me want to go re-read it again. There are some scenes who's action/gore may be a little too much for sensitive readers.

If you loved Devil's Kiss, wait till you read Dark Goddess. Be sure to go pick up your copy TOMORROW!! Be sure to visit us on the 29th, when Sarwat visits us and answers a few of our questions. We'll have giveaways!!

Enjoy the teaser~

I exhaled deeply, looked up at Michael, and offered a smile. When he returned it, my breath caught in my throat.

Buttered biscuits and honey.

“You’re not what I expected,” I said, hating the way my voice broke slightly in the middle of the sentence.

“I’ve heard that before,” he said, scoring major points by pretending not to notice.

“I’m glad you’re close to my age.” Please be close to my age. “Makes me feel like we’re on an even playing field.”

“I didn’t realize we were playing a game.” His dark eyes narrowed slightly. He was probably already wondering if he was getting paid enough to deal with me. “Should I call you Em or Emerson?”

I frowned. I didn’t recall anyone calling me Em in his presence.

“Emerson will be fine for now. Are you Michael or Mike? Or Mikey?”

“Do I look like a Mikey?” he asked, arching his eyebrows.

“Um . . . no.”

Mundane Monday #70

Happy Mundane Monday! We've a lot of Jace, Clary & Simon on MM's, so today we're going to treat you to Valentine. I think many of us have a love/hate relationship with him, and a small part of us admires his intelligence.

Valentine glanced up at the sky. "We are meant for a higher purpose, you and I. The distractions of the world are just that, distraction. If we allow ourselves to be turned aside from our course by them, we are duly punished."

"And our punishment is visited on everyone we care about? That seems a little hard on them."

"Fate is never fair. You are caught in a current much stronger than you are, Jonathan; struggle against it and you'll drown not just yourself but those who try to save you. Swim with it, and you'll survive."

- City of Ashes page 267, Jace & Valentine

Valentine is such an evil genius! I say that as Cassie has created a character who you want to hate and yet some what admire, but despise all at the same time as he's fighting for a cause he thinks is right, and he'll do anything to win.

With all the exciting talk about the upcoming TMI movie, we wanted to know who you think would play a great Valentine. Here's two of the actors (Daniel Craig and Charlie Bewley) I've recently heard some fans say they think would make a great Valentine.

What do you think? Do you agree or do you have someone else in mind? I think he's someone whom is good looking and has a presence around him, an air of respect/someone you're definitely not going to cross, which I think both actors can pull off well. I think it will come down to age-- having an older Valentine or a younger one for the movie.

I'm looking forward to hearing who you guys picture as Valentine. I have always pictured Daniel Craig or someone who looks similar to him.
