Book Review- Afterlife by Claudia Gray

4.5 stars- I Really Liked It

The fourth book in this electrifying vampire series has all the romance, suspense, and page-turning drama that have made Claudia Gray’s Evernight books runaway successes.

Having become what they feared most, Bianca and Lucas face a terrifying new reality. They must return to Evernight Academy, Lucas as a vampire and Bianca as a wraith. But Lucas is haunted by demons, both personal and supernatural. Bianca must help him fight the evil inside him, combat the forces determined to drive them apart—and find the power to claim her destiny at last.

Readers have fallen in love with Bianca and Lucas, and they will be thrilled to read this exciting conclusion to their romantic adventure (quoted from Goodreads).

I read Afterlife knowing a little bits and pieces about what happens in the rest of the series and I can honestly say, I really enjoyed this book, and I didn't feel lost as to what was going on. I know I'm reviewing this series back wards, but that's the way I read it. I've heard for awhile now what a great series The Evernight Series, and I regret I hesitated so long in picking the series up.

Afterlife has some fantastic twists, turns and a shocking ending. It wasn't hard for me to get swept up into the story as there's some awesome action scenes, a great romance and of course a bit of drama. Claudia writes a great story with some engaging paranormal characters, being vampires and wraiths. It wasn't just the main characters Bianca and Lucas who I enjoyed getting to know, as well as Balthazar, but I loved Ranulf and Vic, as they provided more than a few laugh out loud moments for me.

I liked Claudia's twists on her paranormal characters. I've not read a lot of stories with both vampires & wraiths in them, but I really enjoyed this one. Claudia made it work and talk about a unique love story. Not to giveaway spoilers, but Lucas and Bianca's relationship can't seem to catch a break, and they definitely do all they can to make it work. I am a sucker for the unwavering love they both have for each other, and let me say, the ending completely took me by surprise! Talk about a sacrifice.

Afterlife is an example of another awesome way to wrap up a series. I am really looking forward to reading more of Claudia's books including her next series with Balthazar. Don't wait as long as I did to read this series, I would definitely recommend picking up next time you're at the store. Waiting On Wednesday-Entwined by Heather Dixon

Published by Harper Teen
To Be Released On March 29th, 2011

Azalea is trapped. Just when she should feel that everything is before her . . . beautiful gowns, dashing suitors, balls filled with dancing . . . it's taken away. All of it.

The Keeper understands. He's trapped, too, held for centuries within the walls of the palace. And so he extends an invitation.

Every night, Azalea and her eleven sisters may step through the enchanted passage in their room to dance in his silver forest.

But there is a cost.

The Keeper likes to keep things.

Azalea may not realize how tangled she is in his web until it is too late (quoted from Harper Teen's site).

I really love the book's cover and I'm really looking forward to reading it. Entwined is also our April Debut Book of the Month. We're looking forward to talking about it on our forum next month.
