Before you read any further, please know this week's feature will be full of SPOILERS! If you've not read COFA yet and don't want to be spoiled, please do not read any further.

We can't post a scene from COFA and not post the infamous DSAS, also known as the Dirty Sexy Alley Scene. It was tweeted about a lot, brought to life from the COFA book trailer Vania created (here's the link to the steamy scene that didn't make the final cut) and was one of the most highly anticipated scenes. Why? Because Jace and Clary can finally be.... well you know, TOGETHER! Although we find out their relationship is far from blissful in COFA. Still, Cassie knows how to write a HOT scene. Here's a sample...

“Kiss me then,” she whispered, and he pressed his mouth against hers, their hearts slamming together through the thin layers of wet fabric that divided them. And she was drowining in it, in the sensation of him kissing her; of rain everywhere, running off her eyelashes; of letting his hands slide freely over the wet, crumpled fabric of her dress, made thin and clinging by the rain. It was almost like having his hands on her bare skin, her chest, her hips, her stomach; when he reached the hem of her dress, he gripped her legs, pressing her harder back against the wall while she wrapped them around his waiste.

He made a noise of surprise, low in his throat, and dug his fingers into the thin fabric of her tights. Not unexpectedly, they ripped, and his wet fingers were suddenly on the bare skin of her legs.

Reading that makes you want to go and pick up cOFA again doesn't it. You can read the entire scene starting on page 184 and ending on page 188.

4 stars- I enjoyed it

Seventeen-year-old Pierce Oliviera knows what happens to us when we die. That’s how she met John Hayden, the mysterious stranger who’s made returning to normal life—or at least life as Pierce knew it before the accident—next to impossible. Though she thought she escaped him—starting a new school in a whole new place—it turns out she was wrong. He finds her. What does John want from her? Pierce thinks she knows…just like she knows he’s no guardian angel, and his dark world isn’t exactly heaven. But she can’t stay away from him, either, especially since he’s always there when she least expects it, but exactly when she needs him most. But if she let’s herself fall any further, she might find herself back in the place she fears most. And when Pierce discovers the shocking truth, that’s exactly where John sweeps her: The Underworld.

ABANDON is a unique telling of the Persephone and Hades myth with a very unique spin. I loved how Meg combined history and mythology and set her story in modern day. The strong character chemistry, the suspense and mystery and the intriguing John Hayden kept me glued to the pages. Though I struggled with getting into the story for the first part of the book and I fell in love with the second half of the book, so much so that I can't wait for the sequel. Why the change? In the beginning I felt there was a lot of telling and not enough showing. I found it a bit confusing, and sometimes annoying at how often Pierce talked about her experiences and than spent a few pages doing so. It made it hard for me to connect with her character and frustrating since I wanted to get right into the story. I understand that was to build up the plot and the rest of the series.

Pierce isn't a stranger to wealth and privilege, she's grown up in it, and though she's had a great life, everything changes after she dies and comes back. Escapes death is more like. John, the keeper of the Underworld takes Pierce with him, but only being 15 at the time, Pierce does what many teenage girls do, she runs, from death, from John and from the underworld. Her escape has consequences she knows little about. No matter how hard she tries, she can't seem to escape John, or danger for that matter. When ever something bad starts to happen, John is there to save her. Thinking that fresh start will be good for, Pierce's mom moves them back to where she grew up on a remote island in the Florida Keys. It's the last place Pierce thought she'd once again find herself with John and in The Underworld.

John was an intriguing character and someone I wanted to read more about. The only compliant I have with him is I felt he was mentioned more than he appeared in the book. I wanted to get to know his character more. I loved that he became Pierce's keeper and revealed little bits about his role in this unique mythological retelling of Hades. I think Meg has only revealed a tiny little bit about what's to come in her series and I'm really looking forward to reading Underworld. This is my first Meg Cabot book and I'm looking forward to reading more of her books.

Mundane Monday #83

Happy Monday! Here's a little Jace humor to brighten your morning... For some reason with everything that's going on prior to this scene, I find it humorous. Poor Jace. He's dealing with some much and he's just returned from the grocery store with Simon, then he meets Kyle who isn't just some normal human kid, but he's also admitted Clary's cute.

This image can be found HERE on DeviantART.

"You know, some people think Shadowhunters are just myths. Like mummies and genies." Kyle grinned at Jace. "Can you grant wishes?"

The fact that Kyle had just called Clary cute did not seem to have endeared him to Jace, whose face had tightened alarmingly. "That depends," he said. "Do you wish to be punched in the face?"
