3 stars- It's A Good Read

While Nick Gardner’s family is falling apart, his best friend, Scooter, is dying from a freak disease. The Scoot’s final wish is that Nick and their quirky classmate, Jaycee Amato, deliver a prized first-edition copy of Of Mice and Men to the Scoot’s father. There’s just one problem: the Scoot’s father walked out years ago and hasn’t been heard from since. So, guided by Steinbeck’s life lessons, and with only the vaguest of plans, Nick and Jaycee set off to find him.

Characters you’ll want to become friends with and a narrative voice that sparkles with wit make this a truly original coming-of-age story (quoted from Goodreads).

The Pull of Gravity is a realistic portrayal of how unpredictable life is, family dynamics, and friendship. Nick Gardner's life is not at all what he expected. His best friend and next door neighbor Scooter has a genetic defect that's killing him and his servery depressed, overweight dad is breaking his family apart.

I loved getting to know Scooter who often times quotes Star Wars, what fan doesn't love that. Scooter seemed like a old man trapped inside a teenagers body. He was also the anchor Nick needed, but Nick learns a lot more about himself when he fulfills Scooter's dying wish. He and Jaycee embark on trip to find the dad who ran out on Scooter years ago to give him back a first edition of "Mice and Men".

Scooter, Nick, and Jaycee are all realistically portrayed and relatable, as they all come from different home lives and each of their problems they're learning to accept and deal with. It wasn't hard for me to feel very sympathetic to them and get caught up in the emotional side of their problems. The mama in me wanted to hug each of them and tell them to not give up. The Pull of Gravity is a good read, and one I think many readers will enjoy and will be able to related to in some way. There's humor, grief and the realistic topics of death, love, life, illness and broken families that will capture some readers attentions one way or another.

Have you guys heard the exciting news? Hush, Hush is being made into a graphic novel! Here's a sneak peak that Hollywood Crush posted yesterday.

I'm kinda liking this! If you want to see more sketches and find out more about the graphic novel, be sure to visit Becca's site here. The April 26th post is my favorite Patch sketch. What do you guys think?

Like many of you I'm anxiously awaiting more TMI movie news, but you know what they say, good things come to those who wait. If we have to wait for them to cast the perfect Jace, than I'm all for waiting, even if it's hard. Okay, it's really hard waiting. I can not wait to hear more news, especially when we keep hearing all the exciting news surrounding The Hunger Games movie.

What do you guys think about all the Hunger Games Movie news? I was so excited about seeing the movie when it was first announced, than as I started hearing about the casting not so much. I think it's so important for books being turned into movies to cast people who look like the characters. I've become a little more excited with some of their recent casting announcements. Head over to our affiliates The Hob to find all the latest news.

City of Fallen Angels Not So Mundane Moments, Day 5, Alec & Magnus

I am so excited about this week! With our friends Novel Novice, we have had a lot of fun working on this feature. Not only will be talking about our favorite scenes from COFA, we'll also have giveaways! Thank you to Simon & Schuster at the end of the week we'll each be giving away a SIGNED copy of COFA! Each of our site's will also have some swag and a little treat from Cassie we'll be sharing through out the week. To enter our giveaways, you'll need to include the code word found at the bottom of each post and enter the giveaway form out, also found in each post.

Before you read any further, please know this week's feature will be full of SPOILERS! If you've not read COFA yet and don't want to be spoiled, please do not read any further.

You can't talk about the TMI series and not mention Magnus and Alec. I absolutely love that Cassie had them traveling around Europe together. If you haven't had a chance to, please take a look at their post cards. They are brilliant and you can find them on Cassie's site here. They'll give you a sneak peak into their travels.

I loved Magnus and Alec's return in COFA. I absolutely adore Magnus, but to my surprise it was Alec who stole the show when they returned. I found his jealous between Camille and Magnus's history comical. What I loved the most was Simon's description of how he'd changed.

"Alec made a muffled noise of annoyance and gazed off into space. He seemed as if he wasn't happy to be there at all. Beyond that, Simon thought, he looked much the same as he always had-same black hair, same steady blue eyes-although there was something more relaxed about him than there had been before, as if he had grown into himself somehow." - page 249

Through most of the series Alec has tried to hide who he real is and finally he seems comfortable being in his own skin and that is what I loved the most about him. For me, he's the character that has grown the most since City of Bones. In case you missed it, Cassie posted the Malec scene here. Magnus and Alec fans don't want to miss reading it!
