A little TMI Movie News

I know we've all been anxiously awaiting more movie news, and yesterday Hollywood Crush treated us to a little news about Lily & Jamie's auditions-

"I only read with a couple of guys, and it's funny because the way Jace was described in the scenes—I knew what Jamie looked like, and I had met him at social events before briefly, but from the second he walked, he carried himself in this way that was just Jace from the get go," Lily recalled. "He walked in and it was like, okay, he totally has the vibe going on, and he was so nice, and he had totally just flown in from London for it the day before, he could have been extremely tired, but he was there to win us over."

And win Lily (and producers) over, he did.

"The second he started playing with the scene with me, everything was just so natural," Lily continued. "He didn't even seem like he was trying. He was just Jace. He had the perfect balance of all the different character traits and aspects you'd hope from Jace. There are so many levels to him. He just walked out when he was done, and I looked at everyone and said, 'Guys, I think this is Jace.'"

Be sure to go HERE and read the rest!

What do you guys think? I know many fans don't picture Jamie as Jace, and I'll admit I've always pictured Alex P as Jace. After hearing Cassie say Jamie is Jace and reading Lily's reaction to him playing Jace I'm feeling much better about it. Since Cassie's the one that created his character, if she's happy with it, then I'm done worrying about it. Sophie on the other hand has told me from the get go she thinks Jamie will play an awesome Jace. Now I'm like the rest of you who are waiting anxiously to see the chemistry Jamie and Lily have on the big screen. I'm not sure which is worse, waiting to read CP and COLS or waiting for more movie news....

Blog Tour: Half Blood Character Interview w/ Aiden

We're the next stop in The Teen Scene's Half Blood tour & I'm so excited to introduce you guys to Aiden, the main love interest in the story.

The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi-pure-bloods-have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals-well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures.

Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems
with them all, but especially rule #1:

Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden.

Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden.

And that would kind of suck.

You can read my 4.5 star review here.

Hey Aiden! Thank you so much for being with us today. If there was on thing you could change about the rules in your world, what would you change?

Thank you for having me, Katie. I’d change how the half-bloods are treated. I could never agree with… with what happens to those who do not have the privilege of entering the Covenant. Come to think of it, the fact that they are forced into giving over their live to the Covenant. Isn’t that just another form of servitude?

What is one of the first things that drew you to Alex?

Her attitude. I know, shocking right? I’d never tell her this, but I secretly find her rather amusing. She never sits still either. Some part of her is always moving. And she has this—this remarkable resiliency to just bounce back from anything. She’s possibly the strongest person I know. Wait. That was more than one thing. Gods, what am I thinking?

What do you think your strongest trait is? If you could change one thing about yourself, what would you change?

I’m really not sure what my strongest trait is? I’ve been told I have the patience of a saint, so I guess I’ll go with that. To overcome my weakness, which is not so much a trait as it is a person.

How would you describe your brother Deacon?

Good gods, does the death of me sum it up? I don’t want children because of him. Don’t look so shocked. Do you know what he planned to do at my ‘surprise’ birthday party? Naked Twister. Just the other day I had to chase him down to Myrtle Beach. He behaves as if there are no daimons in the world.

If you could give one thing to Alex, what would it be and why?

I’d give her back her sense of control back and her freedom. I couldn’t choose just one thing.

Amazed by her strength Brennus followed Avery and has watched over her.Now he knows Avery is the one to offer him freedom from his obligation to the dead. And he’ll stop at nothing to have her.YA Paranormal Romance for mature teens+ (some content may not be suitable for younger readers)

This is truly a unique paranormal read that older YA readers will enjoy. Drip Drop Teardrop is quick read that takes readers into a darker world that full of love, sacrifice, sizzling romance and puts a unique spin on the outer world. Similar to Samantha's other books, the two main characters are both enduring, they have an inner strength that draws you to them and leaves you cheering for them in the end.

The story line is simplistic and I really loved the gothic feel to it. The story is about Avery, who's had to grow up fast. She lost her parents in a tragic accident at a young age, and has lived with her aunt every since. Now that her aunt is dying, she's dropped out of NYU to take care of her and will do anything to save her. Brennus has spent over two thousands guiding souls to the other world and now he's come to collect the one that fought him years ago and won, Avery. I loved the romance in the story. It's a story about choices, sacrifice, and redemption. This is truly one of those fabulously written guilty pleasures!

3.5 stars- A Good Read

Sold into slavery to pirates at the young age of four, Summer learns to survive the rough seas of subterfuge and thieves through silence. When the boat she's lived on most of her life is destroyed, Summer finds herself washed up on the shore of a new world, a phantom universe full of the bizarre and extraordinary. She meets Gage, the one boy who understands the girl with no speech. But when their lives are put on the line, will Summer finally call out? Or will all be lost in the fathomless depth of silence?

A unique book that blends together pirate slavery, time travel and introduces readers to an enduring character who's inner strength is both admiring and her saving grace. Summer is a true heroine. The book follows her journey and includes flashbacks from when she was 4 years old and first sold into pirate slavery.

I liked the way Laura handled the jumping around to the past and in the future with Summer as a fifteen year old. The flashbacks allowed me to see what shaped Summer into the character she is and one of the fascinating things about Summer is her inability to not speak, which you learn why during one of her flashbacks. I'll be honest, I had a hard time reading some of her flashbacks with the abuse she endured. They pirates that owned her are ruthless and they're far from the type of pirates you'd picture sailing the ocean with eye patches, parrots and yelling arg! This shaped Summer into the character she is, and she's definitely one of the strongest characters in the book.

Laura's unique world building is vivid, richly detailed and fascinating. Summer herself makes the story truly engaging. She's a survivor and though she can't speak, her unique ability to communicate is something that surprisingly made is easy for me to connect with her. She's a strong character and her story is one that is full of twists, action, love, friendship and trust. This is a story that at times is a bit darker, but it's a unique YA story that fans of Laura's work will enjoy. This is a story I'd recommend to older YA readers.

Andy is the janitor's son, an outcast, a nobody. Then the rumor starts-that Blake has a gun in his locker. In a moment of misguided hopefulness, Andy steals the keys from his dad and opens up Blake's locker, hoping that finding the gun will change his own status. But the gun isn't there and Andy remains an outcast. When an unlikely friendship develops between the two loners, Blake shares most of his secrets with Andy, including the gun. But there's one secret that worries Andy more than anything-the date circled on Blake's calendar. Does Blake have something planned? Something that Andy can prevent? In a fascinating look at how teens deal with the now constant threat of school violence, debut author Ryan G. Van Cleave provides a unique, emotional perspective on how it feels to be the one who can prevent a tragedy.

This is one of those books that will make you think. It's a short book, but one that's packed with insight into bullying, school violence and social outcasts.

Unlocked introduces readers to Andy, the high school janitor's kid, who makes friends with another outcast, Blake. Written in verse, this story is one that allows readers to see the impact bullying has on other kids. It allowed me to sympathize with the way Andy and Blake were feeling. In the end it's a story that will test a friendship and turn one of them into a hero, and will show readers that sometimes doing the right thing doesn't change how you'll feel or how other view you, even you've just saved hundreds of lives.

This is a book that does a great job on tackling the seriousness of bullying and the costly effects it has on it's victims.
