Blog Tour: Unleashed by Nancy Holder & Debbie Viguie

We are the next stop in Random House's blog tour for Unleashed by Nancy Holder & Debbie Viguie! If you're a huge fan of paranormal reads, especially ones with wolves, than you want to pick this up when it's out next week! It's an action packed, thrilling read. I'll be posting my review later today. I'm excited to share with you my interview with Nancy and Debbie, about Unleashed.

Katelyn McBride’s life changed in an instant when her mother died. Uprooted from her California home, Katelyn was shipped to the middle of nowhere, Arkansas, to her only living relative, her grandfather. And now she has to start over in Wolf Springs, a tiny village in the Ozark Mountains. Like any small town, Wolf Springs has secrets. But the secrets hidden here are more sinister than Katelyn could ever imagine. It’s a town with a history that reaches back centuries, spans continents, and conceals terrifying truths. And Katelyn McBride is about to change everything.

Broken families, ageless grudges, forced alliances, and love that blooms in the darkest night—welcome to Wolf Springs.

Being a wolf girl, I'm really looking forward to reading Unleashed. What can you tell us about your upcoming release?

Debbie - Get ready to howl! Unleashed is intense and scary and also mournful and beautiful. We worked really hard to build an awesome werewolf mythology that is fully revealed over the course of the trilogy. Nancy and I also love werewolves and we had a lot of fun working on this book.

Nancy –Unleashed is about Katelyn McBride, who uncovers dark secrets in a tiny town in the Ozark hills, where tall tales and legends are mixed in with some dangerous things that are really happening. Once she arrives in Wolf Springs, Katelyn has no idea how drastically her life is going to change—and she can’t figure out if she can trust any of the new people in her life—Trick Sokolov, Justin Fenner, Cordelia Fenner, or even her own grandfather, Mordecai McBride. There is something in the woods…and it wants her.

I’m a wolf girl, too! In fact, I’m a member of the California Wolf Center, where two endangered wolf packs live and breed. I’ve adopted two of the wolves.

How do your wolves vary from those found in other YA paranormal books?

Debbie - There’s a lot of history with our wolves and also a strong connection to the behaviors of wild wolves.

Nancy – We explore the histories of our packs, each of which got “wolfed” in a different way. Since we’ve both been werewolf fans for so long, we are able to use some unusual takes on “werewolfdom” and weave them into our story—more will be revealed as the trilogy continues. People who’ve read books by us before know that we love the unexpected. And so…

Is there one character that stands out above the others that you enjoyed getting to know more about? If so, who and why?

Debbie - Mordecai. I enjoy writing strong paternal figures and Mordecai is no exception. He had a lot more humor than I was expecting that came out while we were writing and I really enjoyed that. I enjoy writing male characters and getting to do the older ones, who don’t have to have any love interest angst is always a pleasure.

Nancy –I relate to Katelyn the most, because like her, I was an aspiring ballet dancer. I dropped out of high school when I was 16 and moved to Germany for training. My father died and I came home to finish high school. There was a tiny studio in my town, and I figured my dance career would probably not happen. The clock is always ticking, ticking when you’re a dancer. The Black Swan movie was kind of extreme, but the pressure really is on 24/7, just like in the film. Werewolves are always on a ticking clock, too, waiting for the full moon. Time is not under anyone’s control, but it’s not as heartless a master for most of us as it is for dancers and werewolves.

Are you able to give us a one line teaser from Unleashed?

Debbie - “Fear began to creep into her mind as she strained even harder to penetrate the darkness around her.”

Nancy – “Her free hand was already moving up around his neck when she heard footsteps and a voice suddenly shouting, ‘Stranger!’”

If you had to describe Unleashed in 5 word or less, what would those words be?

Debbie - Who do you run with?

Nancy – mysterious, passionate, scary, tender, romantic!

Which character surprised you in terms of how they grew from plotting out the book, to finishing it?

Debbie - Beau; he wasn’t even in the initial plotting

Nancy – copy that on Beau. Whoa, Beau! We had a total mind synch on him, doing our squee thing when we realized he was going to have a bigger role than the walk-on part we’d planned for him. I sure hope he doesn’t die

Infernal Devices Clockwork Prince 31 Day Celebration: Day 10, Jessamine Teaser

It's day 10 of our 31 Days of Clockwork Prince! Three weeks from today CP will be OUT!! YAY!!! Yesterday on Twitter I asked our followers which character they'd like to see a teaser for next, and Jessamine was mentioned a couple of times. It was really hard finding a teaser for her that didn't reveal some sort of spoiler. Here's a mini teaser of Jessamine.

Miss Jessamine was dressed in a long velvet traveling cloak that concealed most of her body, from her neck to her feet. Her hair was bound tightly behind her head, and she carried a gentleman's hat in one hand.

The Iron Knight Blog Stop: Q&A with Julie Kagawa

We're thrilled to be the next stop in The Iron Knight blog tour & today we have author Julie Kagawa with us!

The popularity of your series seems to have exploded since the first book. Now, The Iron Knight won the RITA Award, you're a New York Times Bestseller, and you have fans all across the globe. How has the road to reach this point been?

Oh, goodness. Thrilling, exhausting, exciting, terrifying, you name it. It’s been a wild, crazy journey, and I'm just extremely grateful for everyone who allowed me to get this far. To all those people, readers, fans, editors, agents, everyone-thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Can you tell us 3 reasons why people should read your Iron Fey series?

Can I say 4? A half-fey princess, a legendary prankster, a dangerous Winter Prince. And a snarky talking cat.

Out of all four books which has been your favorite to write?

I think my favorite to write was The Iron Queen, because that's when everything came together; the last battle, Meghan's destiny, her and Ash's fate, all the loose threads that wove together as this was the final fight. And it was satisfying seeing Meghan's story finally come to a close. Everything worked out, with the exception of her and Ash, of course, but that's where The Iron Knight comes in. ;-)

Do you have any specific last thoughts that you want to say to your readers?

My readers are the best part about being a writer. I would not be where I am without you, so thank you for all the support, the fun, the twitter chats, everything! I am forever grateful.

Thank you so much for joining us today Julie! Don't forget, we're chatting with Julie TONIGHT at 8 pm CST here.
