City of Lost Souls Teaser!

Wow, today is definitely an exciting TMI news day. I was off line for a good portion of the weekend and missed getting this post up sooner. Here's the newest, lovely COLS TEASER!

“Hey, little brother.” It was Sebastian’s voice, floating under the door. “Is it done?”

There was a long silence. Then Jace’s reply, oddly flat and colorless. “It’s done.”

This teaser KILLS ME!! What's done!?!? I have a feeling it's something bad since it contains Sebastian asking Jace if it's done.

Mundane Monday #127

Happy Monday!! Since we're less than two months away from the release of City of Lost Souls, I thought I'd start featuring some quotes out of City of Fallen Angels. Over the next few mondays leading up to COLS releases I'll have quotes from COFA. If you're not read this book yet, some of these may contain spoilers.

"I didn't know," he said. "I didn't know you needed me."

Her voice shook. "I always need you."

He bent his head and kissed the burn on her wrist. A flare of heat coursed through her, like a hot spike that went from her wrist to the pit of her stomach. "I didn't realize," he said. He kissed the next burn, on her forearm, and then the next, moving up her arm to her shoulder, the pressure of his body bearing her back until she was lying against the pillows, looking up at him. He propped himself on his elbow so as not to crush her with his weight and looked down at her.

His eyes always darkened when they kissed, as if desire changed their color in some fundamental way.

News from Cassie!

Cassie recently posted some exciting news on her tumblr page:

so I am in LA

I can see the beach from where I am. Ah, my hometown.

I have director, producer and writer meetings tomorrow about ‘City of Bones.’

I honestly don’t know what I’ll find out, or what of what I do find out I’ll be allowed to report. Hopefully something, since I know everyone is growing cobwebs waiting for news.

Now, I’ve no idea what I will be able to say, if anything. I know there are points in the script we want to go over, and concept art, etc. For all I know I could sit down and be told that they now see the film as a parable reflecting the age-old conflict between Mr. Peanut and his arch-enemy Alejandro, the Spanish almond. Life is mysterious.

Hopefully they will be good meetings. Hopefully I will have something to tell you about them. I have my fingers crossed, but I won’t make promises ‘cause I don’t want to say I’ll know something and then not know something. And it might be ‘I know something but I can’t tell it’ which is annoying, but quite possible.

However.

I will have news for you about something fun before the end of the week. That I can promise. :)

[Also, Margie Stohl is a wonderful person, because I had my clothes mailed to her. Otherwise since I’m coming straight from Mexico I would have showed up for the meetings in shorts and flipflops.]

Enjoy your meetings Cassie and we can't wait to hear what your exciting news is!

Must Have Middle Grade Reads

Welcome to this week's edition of Must Have Middle Grade Reads, a weekly feature here on Mundie Moms where I spotlight last week's middle grade books I reviewed on Mundie Kids. This week's Must Have Middle Grade reads are:

Published by: Random House Kids
Released on: January 12th, 2010
5 stars: We Loved It
Purchase from: Amazon | Barnes & Noble
Series: book #43 in The Magic Tree House Series

Jack and Annie are on their third mission to find (and inspire!) creative people to bring happiness to others through the arts (Mozart and Louis Armstrong so far). Set in Ireland, Jack and Annie meet an Irish girl and go on a magical adventure that changes the girl’s life—she grows up to be Lady Gregory, who helped bring back the Irish legends, started a theater, and helped the Irish people regain both their heritage and their pride -quoted from Goodreads

I absolutely love how educational and inspirational this series is for my kids and young readers. Mary does an amazing job with not only taking kids on a history lesson in this story by taking them back in time to the mid 1800's in Ireland, she also teaches readers about this Irish lore, and introduces them to a real historical figure, Lady Gregory. I for one was fascinated about the lore of Irish fairies, known as Shee in this story, and the role they played in Jack and Annie's quest to help young Lady Gregory.

Released on: March 1st, 2012
3 stars: It's A Good Read
Purchase from: Amazon | Barnes & Noble

The new novel by Natalie Babbitt, author of Tuck EverlastingJoe Casimir needed help with the choice he had to make. But how do you choose the person who will help you choose? Mr. Boulderwall, the millionaire, knew exactly what he wanted Joe to choose. And millionaires are experts at making choices. Well, aren't they? But Vinnie, the number-two man down at Sope Electric, didn't much approve of millionaires. He said to Joe, "Listen, kid, all of 'em act like they're the only ones with a ticket to the show!" But he didn't have any real advice to offer. Joe's Gran didn't either, as it turned out, and neither did Aunt Myra. The good advice was there, though. Right across the street. Just waiting right across the street. There are a lot of good things just waiting. You'll see.

Set in the early 1960's, this story follows that of young Joe Casimir, a twelve old boy who's been raised by his grandmother following the tragic death of his parents as an infant. After an accident that lands his grandmother in the hospital, Joe is sent to spend the summer with his "Aunt" Myra. During his stay with her he not only learns what family, love and friendships is all about, but what it means to hold onto your dream. The Moon Over High Street is a story that tackles the theme about money, the working class, rich vs poor, family, friendship and love.
