Eve knew the stories of the Fall, of a time before she wandered into the colony of Eden, unable to recall anything but her name. She's seen the aftermath of the technology that infused human DNA with cybernetic matter, able to grow new organs and limbs, how it evolved out of control. The machine took over and the soul vanished. A world quickly losing its humanity isn't just a story to her though. At eighteen, this world is Eve's reality.

In their Fallen world, love feels like a selfish luxury, but not understanding what it is makes it difficult to choose between West, who makes her feel alive but keeps too many secrets, and Avian, who has always been there for her, but is seven years her senior.

The technology wants to spread and it won't stop until there is no new flesh to assimilate. With only two percent of the human population left, mankind is on the brink of extinction. While fighting to keep Eden alive, Eve will discover that being human is about what you will do for those you love, not what your insides may be made of. And even if it gets you killed, love is always what separates them from the Fallen. -quoted from Goodreads

City of Fallen Angels Read A Long Chapter 17: And Cain Rose Up

Welcome to Day 17 of the City of Fallen Angels Read-A-Long. You can follow the entire read-a-long and find each of the day's posts here. Remember there's no right or wrong way to participate. Your comments can be as long or a short as you'd like them to be. You can answer one or each of the questions asked, it's totally up to you, BUT, in order to be entered into the COLS giveaway (which you also had to sign up to win), you do need to be actively participating in the read-a-long.

Today's discussion is about: Chapter 17: And Cain Rose Up
  • Well, this chapter was certainty interesting...... What do you guys make of Lilith being Jonathan's "mom"? I mean it makes sense in a totally twisted way. Now I'm wondering what his quote in the COLS trailer means when he's referring to his mother. Which one would he be talking about?
  • Clary's act of saving Jace in COG definitely damned them all in many ways with regards to Lilith and what she's planning. Clary's actions made it possible for Lilith to put her plan into action. I get that Jace is the counterweight and to have balance with light and dark, Jonathan must be brought back. Do you think if Clary had known the out come of her act of saving Jace she would have do things differently at the end of COG?
Please DO NOT POST SPOILERS. There's some fans who are joining the read-a-long who are reading COFA for the first time.
