Entice Me Day- Lincoln!

It's ENTICE ME DAY and today on Mundie Moms I'm celebrating Vi's guy, LINCOLN! I'm thrilled to be Lincoln's stop today. If you've not met him yet than you're missing out! Want to get to know him better? Before I give you more info about his character, enjoy this snippet from Lincoln:

People couldn’t become legendary heroes if they hadn’t first done something to combat darkness.”—Lincoln

With the most breathtaking green eyes, he’s gorgeous, athletic and so hard not to fall in love with. Mr. Darcy and Bruce Wayne wrapped up in one, Lincoln is the man Violet absolutely trusts, secretly fell for—and then she learned her destiny. Now, Grigori partners, there are rules they aren’t allowed to break. But the rules can’t control feelings . . .
Under the Harbour Bridge at the Sydney wharves, Jessica dishes the dirt on the stuff you always wanted to know about this heroic warrior!

Let's hear what author Jessica Shirvington herself has to say about Lincoln. Believe me, Lincoln fans will want to watch this video... she might spill the beans on a few of his SECRETS...

Now for a little bit more about Lincoln. Hmmm let's see. I'm sure you guys are dying to know that he drives a 4WD Volvo (nope he doesn't sparkle in the sunlight (snickers)). He is a Grigori- half angel, half human, made by the angelic rank of Powers. He's a Shadow finder and has increased fighting abilities. I'm thinking he'd make a great ally for the Shadowhunters. Violet Eden is Grigori - part angel, part human. Her destiny is to protect humans from the vengence of exiled angels.

Knowing who to trust is key but, when Grigori reinforcements arrive, it becomes clear everyone is hiding something. Even Lincoln. The only thing Violet does know: Phoenix's hold over her is more dangerous than ever.

The race to find the one thing that could tilt the balance of power brings them all to the sacred mountains of Jordan, where Violet's power will be pushed to the extreme. And the ultimate betrayal exposed.

Enticed is the second compelling book in The Violet Eden Chapters.

Outpost Blog Tour: Author Interview & Giveaway

I'm thrilled to be the final stop in MacKids's Outpost Blog Tour. Today's stop features an interview with author Ann Aguirre as well as a giveaway!

Hi Ann! Welcome to Mundie Moms. With your series,  I feel like the setting itself is like it's own character. Has the setting changed for you at all from when you wrote your first draft to Outpost's published book, or is it just as you first envisioned it to be?

I had a set idea of what the world is like from the beginning, so it hasn't changed in my mind. However, the way the world is perceived by Deuce (and others) isn't necessarily the truth. This is a prime example of an unreliable narrator, though in her case, it's not because she's a liar, only that she's been inaccurately educated. I can't wait for her to learn even more in the last book, Horde, where all truths are revealed and the questions will be answered.

Do you find yourself cheering a certain character on more than the others, or do you feel you cheer them all on equally?

I have a soft spot for Tegan. Survivors deserve special credit and recognition; I know some readers felt I was dismissive of her situation, but in fact, Deuce lacked the emotional tools to handle the matter more sensitively. While I wanted to hug and comfort Tegan and offer her counseling, those modern devices have no role in a dystopian world. I did the best I could within Deuce's framework; and she does learn in Outpost that there are different kinds of strength. Tegan is a wonderful character, and I think readers will be delighted by the conclusion to her journey.

What was one of your favorite scenes to write about in Outpost?

While I'm known for grit and action, I love writing "mush" as my husband calls it. Which means my favorite scenes are the tender, romantic ones with Deuce and Fade. Without spoilers, it's safe to say the scene after the Cherry Blossom festival is my favorite in the whole book. But the one at the end where Deuce says something fierce and determined (again no spoilers) to Fade about their relationship? I love that one too.

Sometimes we hear from authors that their second book was harder to write than their first, because characters tend to change and grow from their first to second book, and don't always do what the authors wants them to do. Did you find this to be the case with any of your characters in Outpost?

No, Outpost unfolded the way I wanted it to. Sometimes it was frustrating to write because I knew what was coming, and I feel a bit evil in tormenting my characters so. I don't have the fortitude to torture my fictional people for twenty books as some authors do. I live for the day when I end a series, so I can let my characters be happy.

If you could write in one of your favorite fictional characters into your series, who would you choose and why?

It would totally be Gandalf. Then if readers find mistakes in my books, I can legit say, "A wizard did it."

About the Book:

Deuce’s whole world has changed. Down below, she was considered an adult. Now, topside in a town called Salvation, she’s a brat in need of training in the eyes of the townsfolk. She doesn’t fit in with the other girls: Deuce only knows how to fight.

To make matters worse, her Hunter partner, Fade, keeps Deuce at a distance. Her feelings for Fade haven’t changed, but he seems not to want her around anymore. Confused and lonely, she starts looking for a way out.

Deuce signs up to serve in the summer patrols—those who make sure the planters can work the fields without danger. It should be routine, but things have been changing on the surface, just as they did below ground. The Freaks have grown smarter. They’re watching. Waiting. Planning. The monsters don’t intend to let Salvation survive, and it may take a girl like Deuce to turn back the tide.
