About A Corner of White
A tale of two worlds, told in brilliant color.

Readers have loved bestselling author Jaclyn Moriarty since The Year of Secret Assignments. Now she gives them A Corner of White, the first in a suspenseful, funny, genre-busting trilogy that brings her fantastic characters, laugh-out-loud descriptions, and brilliant plotting to a fantasy setting.

Madeleine and her mother have run away from their former life and settled in a rainy corner of Cambridge, England (in our world).

In another world, in the Kingdom of Cello, Elliot is in search of his father, who disappeared on the night his uncle Jon was found dead. The talk in the town is that Elliot's dad may have killed Jon and run away with the physics teacher. But Elliot refuses to believe it. And he is determined to find both his dad and the truth.

As Madeleine and Elliot move closer to unraveling their mysteries, they begin to exchange messages across worlds — through an accidental gap that hasn't appeared in centuries. On both sides of the gap, even greater mysteries are unfolding — with more than one life at stake.

The Collector: An Interview with Author Victoria Scott

Happy Tuesday! I'm so thrilled to have Victoria Scott on the blog today! Not only has she written a book I keep hearing is a "must read", but she's a TX author! I love supporting my local authors. Before I introduce you to Victoria, let's get to know Dante, I mean Victoria's debut.... The Collector.

He makes good girls...bad.

Dante Walker is flippin’ awesome, and he knows it. His good looks, killer charm, and stellar confidence have made him one of hell’s best—a soul collector. His job is simple: weed through humanity and label those round rears with a big red good or bad stamp. Old Saint Nick gets the good guys, and he gets the fun ones. Bag-and-tag.

Sealing souls is nothing personal. Dante’s an equal-opportunity collector and doesn't want it any other way. But he’ll have to adjust, because Boss Man has given him a new assignment:

Collect Charlie Cooper’s soul within ten days.

Dante doesn't know why Boss Man wants Charlie, nor does he care. This assignment means only one thing to him, and that’s a permanent ticket out of hell. But after Dante meets the quirky Nerd Alert chick he’s come to collect, he realizes this assignment will test his abilities as a collector…and uncover emotions deeply buried.

Hi Victoria! Welcome to Mundie Moms! I'm so thrilled to have you on the blog. How would you describe your debut, The Collector in 5 words or less? You're more than welcome to say HOT! HOT! HOT! HOT! HOT!, as I hear it's a hot YA read.
Thanks for having me, Mundie Moms! I'd use the words: Funny, Dark, Sexy, Male, and yes, HOT! ;)

So let's just cut to the chase and discuss your character Dante. I hear he's one character I won't soon forget about. What is something you've come to admire about him?
I admire his self-appreciation. We're taught from an early age not to be too proud of ourselves, but Dante says otherwise. He says, "Be awesome, and know you're awesome."

Which of your characters has surprised you the most in terms of how much they've changed or grown from your first draft to the published book?
Definitely Blue. At first, he was just a secondary character there to give Dante a punching bag of sorts. But he really held his own once it was all said and done.

I have to know. If I were to ask your teen self what it is she loved about Dante, what would she say? Oh, man. Probably that he is hot and dangerous. That's so sad, right? That's all it would have taken for me to crush.

Though I haven't yet read Dante, I'm still patiently waiting for this book to be in hot little hands, I love that Entangled is releasing the sequel in the fall (YAY). Without discussing spoilers, which Dante did you have the most fun writing. Dante in book 1 or Dante in book 2?
That is so hard! I might say book 2. In book 1 he attempts to become better, in book 2.... Ha! *shakes head*

What do you feel is one of Charlie's best characteristics?
She has such a big heart. She always sees the best in other people.

I hear The Collector has the perfect balance of paranormal elements and some sizzling ones too. Which element did you enjoy creating the most?
Probably the paranormal, which is why my next series will lean more SciFi thriller...with plenty of steamy. ;)

As a teen, what were some of your favorite books to read?
All the Christopher Pike and RL Stine books. What I wouldn't have done for a Kendara Blake book back in the day.

If there was one thing you could go back and tell your teen self, what would that be?
You're not fat. Get over yourself and eat the damn cookies.

What is one book you've read as an adult that you wish you had read as a teen?
I'm going to say the MORTAL INSTRUMENTS series to win bonus points! Ding-ding-ding! Also, it's awesome and teen me would have loved them. ;)

You've won a lot of bonus points! Thank you so much for stopping by and visiting with me today!
