Happy Birthday to our Mundie Mom, Katie!!!

Modified from Will Sketch by mseregon

What a year it's been for our favorite Mundie Mom, the inexhaustible Ms. Katie B! And we love her enthusiasm even more this year, because she brought us so many details live and in rapid response tweets. Whether she was at BEA or Comic Con or on the red carpet for the Los Angeles premiere of "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones", we heard all the extra tidbits from her first!

So on her birthday, I wish I could have (one of her very favorite characters) Will slice that Demon Cake (it's probably a Devil's Food cake) and pour her a cup of tea. I know Tessa wouldn't be at all jealous, but would allow Will a little let's call it "story time" with our favorite Mundie Mama.

On a serious note, Mundie Moms wouldn't exist without Katie's high energy, attention to detail and all out enthusiasm for books and stories that capture her heart. On behalf of all of us who help out here and on the forum, Shandra, Emm, Erin and moi, we thank her for including us in this awesome madness.

Please join us in wishing Katie the happiest of birthdays and hoping that the year ahead is even more exciting and fun!

Sentinel Blog Tour: Apollyon by Jennifer L. Armentrout & A Giveaway

Welcome to the next stop in the Sentinel blog tour! I am such a huge fan of this series. Today I'm one of my favorite books from the series (well really they're all my favorite), Apollyon! You can read my reviews for the series here Half-BloodPureDaimonDeity, Apollyon). Before I tell you a little bit about Apollyon, check out what Jennifer had to say about her book, and her characters:

*************
So much of your personality comes out in the snark in your books and Apollyon is no exception.  Which character has the most of you in them?
Probably Alex.

For Alex – As far as I can tell, Aiden is just about perfect.  What are your thoughts on the matter?
I don’t think anyone could be more perfect than Aiden.

For Aiden – This journey has been full of so many close calls.  When were you most concerned that you would lose Alex?
I can’t even answer that question because Alex is always scaring me.  It seems like I’m never there to protect her or I’m locked on the other side of the door.

For Caleb – What was it like for you, seeing Alex again?
I wanted to see Alex, she’s my best friend, just not where we were reuniting.

Check out my most recent The Covenant Series interview with Jennifer here, my other interviews with Jennifer here, and my features of The Covenant Series here.

Fate isn’t something to mess with… and now, neither is Alex.

Alex has always feared two things: losing herself in the Awakening and being placed on the Elixir. But love has always been stronger than Fate, and Aiden St. Delphi is willing to make war on the gods—and Alex herself—to bring her back.

The gods have killed thousands and could destroy entire cities in their quest to stop Seth from taking Alex’s power and becoming the all-powerful God Killer. But breaking Alex’s connection to Seth isn’t the only problem. There are a few pesky little loopholes in the whole “an Apollyon can’t be killed” theory, and the only person who might know how to stop the destruction has been dead for centuries.

Finding their way past the barriers that guard the Underworld, searching for one soul among countless millions, and then somehow returning will be hard enough. Alex might be able to keep Seth from becoming the God Killer… or she might become the God Killer herself

SO, originally I was going to list quotes, and discuss all the things I loved about Jennifer's series, and specifically this book, but then I realized that my review that I originally posted here, sums up feels for this book perfectly. I'm just going to share my entire review here, because saying I LOVED THIS BOOK over and over and over again wouldn't be as exciting to read.

My review:

I love this series! It's captivating, thrilling, and leaves me wanting so much more. Jennifer Armentrout has created the perfect blend of action, suspense, twists, romance, and excitement that makes my heart race, and makes me wish I could turn the pages a little bit faster. I can't get enough of these characters. Each book in this series has gotten better and better. I'll admit, after Deity, I didn't think she could top all that happened in that book, but boy was I wrong.

Apollyon is an action packed, fast paced read that had me clinging to the pages, and holding my breathe for much of the story. There are shocking betrayals, fabulous twists, and those sweet moments I have loved since book one between Alex and Aiden. Don't worry, Seth is definitely ever present. The thing I wasn't excepting was to like a few characters that up until now, I didn't really care for. I like how things have changed in this book, some for the better, and some were surprising. Given all that has happened, things needed to change or else this story wouldn't be believable. What? Like you don't wish you had your own Apollyon or Sentinel? You know you do. *snickers*

I'm totally addicted to Jennifer Armentrout's writing. She has not only created this vivid world, but she writes these visually stunning, and beautiful moments between her characters. She creates these moments between her characters that are sensual and leave me breathless, and then a moment later she leaves me laughing over something snarky Alex has said. She throws in the right amount of danger that makes me heart race, and sneaks in these shocking twists that leave me on edge, while I try to decipher what's going to happen next. Aside from all that, this time around Jennifer takes readers deeper into her mesmerizing mythology, and treats us to a different side of her series. She introduces us to a different side of her Gods, and gives us more of her series's mythology. I loved it. The Underworld was fabulous!

Alex and Aiden. Alex and Seth. Alex and well Alex. Alex is a character whom I always thought was incredibly strong. Okay I've loved her for her snark and compassion, but I love that she's always held her own. This time around she battles herself, as much as she battles Seth. Seth..... I know I shouldn't want to like him, but like with Alex, he gets under my skin and I can't help it. I know. I know I shouldn't, but it's Seth. Don't get me wrong, I totally want to kick his butt as much as Alex does.

After reading the other three books in this series I didn't think I could love Aiden more than I did, and I swear I say this every time, but wow! Aiden seriously steps it up in this book, and I love what he does for Alex. The love Aiden and Alex have for each other is taken to a whole new level, and I loved it! I loved seeing how the sacrifices they've made for each other up to this point in the series come full circle. The way Jennifer has created their relationship is well, lovely. I know that sounds lame, but it is. I love that it's complicated and simplistic. Ooh those moments with these two in this book! I did say Jennifer writes sensual well didn't I?! She does.

I loved seeing some of my other favorite characters back in this book! I won't name names, but YAY for someone being in this book and the role they played in helping Alex. There are so many things I want to discuss about this book, but I can't. Like always, I do not want to spoil things for anyone. I am seriously in love with this series. I love that Jennifer keeps me on my toes with all that she throws into each of her books. Everything has a purpose in Jennifer's series. Her characters, her mythology, her scenes, the little things that have happened through out each book. Like always, Jennifer leaves me wishing her next book was already coming out, because I CAN NOT WAIT that long! I need more! If you're a fan of this series, I highly recommend that you pick it up TODAY!

Welcome to today's trailer blitz for Kelly Hashway's Touch of Death series. Not familiar with this series? Check out the series info below:

Book #1 Touch of Death
Jodi Marshall isn't sure how she went from normal teenager to walking
disaster. One minute she's in her junior year of high school, spending
time with her amazing boyfriend and her best friend. The next she's
being stalked by some guy no one seems to know. After the stranger,
Alex, reveals himself, Jodi learns he's not a normal teenager and
neither is she. With a kiss that kills and a touch that brings the
dead back to life, Jodi discovers she's part of a branch of
necromancers born under the 13th sign of the zodiac, Ophiuchus. A
branch of necromancers that are descendants of Medusa. A branch of
necromancers with poisoned blood writhing in their veins. Jodi's
deadly to the living and even more deadly to the deceased. She has to
leave her old, normal life behind before she hurts the people she
loves. As if that isn't difficult enough, Jodi discovers she's the
chosen one who has to save the rest of her kind from perishing at the
hands of Hades. If she can't figure out how to control her power,
history will repeat itself, and her race will become extinct.
FACE OF DEATH

Book #2 STALKED BY DEATH
Jodi knows that any slip-ups made by the Ophi--a special group of
necromancers born under the 13th sign of the zodiac--will fall on her
shoulders... and that Hades is just waiting for them to screw up so he
can wipe out the Ophi line. Unfortunately, Jodi has only convinced one
Ophi to join her school: A hot guy named Chase who jeopardizes her
relationship with Alex. Jodi loves Alex, but Chase can enhance her
powers with just a touch--making her stronger than any Ophi has ever
been. Her mixed emotions send her powers surging out of control, and
the dead start rising without her conscious summoning--exactly what
Hades doesn't want! If she chooses Alex over Chase, she may lose the
battle to Hades, leading the Ophi race to extinction. If she chooses
Chase, she might be able to stop Hades for good but lose everything
else. Jodi needs to figure things out fast--because death is stalking
her at every turn.

Book #3 TOUCH OF DEATH to be released on 1/7/14
Having fallen at the hands of Hades, Jodi's enduring torture like she
never imagined. Worse, she has to watch her Ophi friends suffer along
with her--the punishment doled out by the very people she'd sentenced
to life in Tartarus. Hell. This is one reunion Jodi hoped would never
happen, but now she must find a way to free them all.

Except the underworld is nearly impossible to escape.

Jodi's one chance may rest in raising the human soul she killed when
she drank Medusa's blood.

But splitting her human soul from her Ophi soul means living a double
life: One as an Ophi experiencing unspeakable torture and the other as
the human she could have been if she never came into her powers. With
her two worlds colliding, Jodi will have to make the toughest decision
she's faced yet.
