RUINS by Dan Wells; Scavenger Hunt & Giveaway Blog Tour

Hello & welcome to today's RUINS blog tour stop. I'm so thrilled to have author Dan Wells on Mundie Moms today! I'm a huge fan of his, and his series. If you've not yet picked it up, I totally recommend doing so. Check out today's post:

2062: The Isolation War ends with Chinese surrender; they agree to a cessation of hostilities, the relinquishing of (some of) their captured territories, and an open-door trade policy that's probably a lot more strict and damaging to China than is wise in the long run. Russian and Brazilian companies step in to help the Chinese mine/farm/harvest their resources, while the UN oversees their adherence to the trade agreement. The US and NADI bring the Partial army home, though they are unsure what to do with them now that there's no war to fight. Late in the year a child named Saladin Correia is born in Columbus, Ohio. Four years later, he will officially become the youngest healthy human on the planet—a title he will hold for ten years.

2063: US society struggles to find a place for the Partials: putting them to work would only take jobs away from “real” people, and yet killing them seems cruel. This is exacerbated by the immense expense of building the Partials in the first place, which has saddled the nation with a crippling debt. The Partials are put to work in high-labor industries like mining and manufacturing, but this only makes the public perception worse: if a Partial has a job, he took it away from a human; if he doesn't, he's a shiftless freeloader. The average cost of each Partial is calculated to be 5 million dollars—money that the human's hard work and taxes are paying for—and the blame for that debt is placed unfairly on the Partials themselves. From the Partials point of view, they've been thrust into a culture they don't understand, working jobs they hate, at a pay rate so ridiculous they have literally no chance to better their situation. Human-Partial relations are understandably strained.
Just a reminder to those following the tour, that today's Timeline Scavenger Hunt word is colored & bolded. You can enter today's word in the giveaway (below) for an extra entry!

About The Series

PARTIALS
Author: Dan Wells
Release Date: February 28, 2012
Pages: 468
Publisher: Balzer + Bray
The human race is all but extinct after a war with Partials—engineered organic beings identical to humans—has decimated the population. Reduced to only tens of thousands by RM, a weaponized virus to which only a fraction of humanity is immune, the survivors in North America have huddled together on Long Island while the Partials have mysteriously retreated. The threat of the Partials is still imminent, but, worse, no baby has been born immune to RM in more than a decade. Our time is running out.

Kira, a sixteen-year-old medic-in-training, is on the front lines of this battle, seeing RM ravage the community while mandatory pregnancy laws have pushed what's left of humanity to the brink of civil war, and she's not content to stand by and watch. But as she makes a desperate decision to save the last of her race, she will find that the survival of humans and Partials alike rests in her attempts to uncover the connections between them—connections that humanity has forgotten, or perhaps never even knew were there.

Dan Wells, acclaimed author of
I Am Not a Serial Killer, takes readers on a pulsepounding journey into a world where the very concept of what it means to be human is in question—one where our humanity is both our greatest liability and our only hope for survival.

Pages: 564
Publisher: Balzer + Bray
Kira Walker has found the cure for RM, but the battle for the survival of humans and Partials is just beginning. Kira has left East Meadow in a desperate search for clues to who she is. That the Partials themselves hold the cure for RM in their blood cannot be a coincidence—it must be part of a larger plan, a plan that involves Kira, a plan that could save both races. Her companions are Afa Demoux, an unhinged drifter and former employee of ParaGen, and Samm and Heron, the Partials who betrayed her and saved her life, the only ones who know her secret. But can she trust them?
Meanwhile, back on Long Island, what's left of humanity is gearing up for war with the Partials, and Marcus knows his only hope is to delay them until Kira returns. But Kira's journey will take her deep into the overgrown wasteland of postapocalyptic America, and Kira and Marcus both will discover that their greatest enemy may be one they didn't even know existed.
The second installment in the pulse-pounding Partials saga is the story of the eleventh hour of humanity's time on Earth, a journey deep into places unknown to discover the means—and even more important, a reason—for our survival.

Kira, Samm, and Marcus fight to prevent a final war between Partials and humans in the gripping final installment in the Partials Sequence, a series that combines the thrilling action of The Hunger Games with the provocative themes of Blade Runner and The Stand.
There is no avoiding it—the war to decide the fate of both humans and Partials is at hand. Both sides hold in their possession a weapon that could destroy the other, and Kira Walker has precious little time to prevent that from happening. She has one chance to save both species and the world with them, but it will only come at great personal cost.

Love, vengeance, and greed spark a deadly quest for magic in the third book of the Falling Kingdoms series

Prince Magnus has just witnessed torture, death, and miracles during the bloody confrontation that decimated the rebel forces. Now he must choose between family and justice as his father, the cruel King Gaius, sets out to conquer all of Mytica. All Gaius needs now are the Kindred—the four elemental crystals that give godlike powers to their owner. But the King of Blood is not the only one hunting for this ancient, storied magic. . . .

THE KRAESHIANS join the hunt. Ashur and Amara, the royal siblings from the wealthy kingdom across the Silver Sea, charm and manipulate their way to the Kindred, proving to be more ruthless than perhaps even the King of Blood himself.

THE REBELS forge ahead. Princess Cleo and vengeful Jonas lead them, slaying with sweetness, skill, and a secret that can control Lucia’s overpowering magic—all so they can use the Kindred to win back their fallen kingdoms.

THE WATCHERS follow Melenia out of the Sanctuary. They ally in the flesh with King Gaius, who vows to use Lucia’s powers to unveil the Kindred.
The only certainty in these dark times is that whoever finds the magic first will control the fate of Mytica. . . . but the four element gods of the Kindred have other plans.

I LOVE this series! I am anxiously, impatiently waiting for this book to hurry up and being released. After the events at the end of Rebel Spring, I need to know what will happen next.

What book are you waiting on?
