Shadowhunters TV Series: Reactions to the Casting of Simon & Izzy (I LOVE this cast) @ShadowhuntersTV @CassieClare | Mundane Monday #241

Happy Mundane Monday! Last week fans were treated to some exciting casting news. We got our Simon & Izzy! As many of you know, the response to this casting news was been so supportive. I've included various tweets here from the cast, those who are affiliated with the series, other authors, and Cassie about the news.

I love this picture, which McG Tweeted here, featuring our cast so far. McG also teased fans with more pictures of Simon, here and here.

I love the actors they've cast so far. I'm delighted we have a diverse cast. They are gorgeous and talented.

Alberto Rosende is so excited to play Simon! Hit play for an exclusive video message from Alberto just for you!v (check out the video HERE).

Here's a special video from ! She's excited to play Isabelle on ! (check out the video HERE).

cast is coming together!! I didn't think I could be more excited but Alberto and joining us has done it!!!

I am floored by the amount of excitement I feel coming from fans. I can't wait to start this journey with you all!

I’m very encouraged by the casting for ’s Shadowhunters TV series. So great to see actors of color given equal consideration

Then there's been a few who were less than stellar in their comments about the diverse cast. Which personally, if you're against a diverse cast, then you read the wrong book series, because The Mortal Instruments book series is made of up diverse characters. Cassandra Clare has the perfect response to some of the shameful tweets about the cast.

Okay, hear ye. I am done retweeting problematic tweets, but I do want to say something. They *asked me* if it was okay to cast POC in 1/2

Any roles at all, even if the characters were white, and I said "Yes. Please do. Go ahead."

I am really pleased with the diverse casting of the show. I will never be regretful that they cast the best choices and didn't care that

Cassandra Clare answers more racist tweets, and deals with hate she's been getting, better than most people would. Here is her most recent response to those tweets, which she tweeted last night.

What would be the benefit to me exactly of "making up racism"? @Bacetwilight
And that is the hard thing about calling out racism when you see your fans doing it. You WANT to ignore it. It would be

So, so so much easier. Shut up and hide. The pressure is enormous to do that.

And the point of calling it out? Youhope to show your fans who aren't white that you support them. You hope for a better world.

Thanks, everyone, for lots of positivity. Love you all.

Just a reminder to fans, if you have an issue with the cast, TAKE IT UP WITH THOSE INVOLVED WITH THE SERIES. NOT THE AUTHOR! The fact that fans have problems diverse casting for this tv show, is troubling to me. But that's for another post. This cast is going to rock this tv show. The casting is spot on!
