Welcome today's Backstage Pass Tour With Ali Novak and Miranda Kenneally! I'm so thrilled to have Ali and Miranda on Mundie Moms today! Enjoy today's backstage pass with Ali and Miranda and don't forget to enter to win today's fabulous giveaway!

There is just something about a musician that is irresistible. The fame, the fans, the talent! So it is no wonder that more and more teen musicians are showing up in Young Adult novels. Two authors with recent music-themed books are Ali Novak and Miranda Kenneally. Today the authors visit Mundie Moms to give readers ‘backstage pass’ to get to know their musical heroes. Read on for the most memorable interactions that Oliver, the lead singer of the Heartbreakers from Ali’s book, and Nashville heartthrob Jesse from Miranda’s newest release have had with their fans.

Ali: My newest YA story, The Heartbreakers, centers around Stella Samuel, an aspiring photographer whose sister Cara has cancer. Cara is obsessed with the Heartbreakers, and although Stella doesn’t like their music, she travels to an autograph session to obtain a signed CD to cheer her sister up. There she meets Oliver Perry—lead singer for the band.

At first, he and Stella don’t get along—Oliver is the type of celebrity that revels in his fame, and Stella finds him pretentious. What Stella doesn’t realize is that Oliver views his career as an escape from his old life, and is incredibly thankful of his fans support. Oliver has hundreds of memorable fan interactions, but he cherishes the letter he received from a marine fighting overseas who listens to the Heartbreakers.

As an author, I’ve had many memorable fan interactions. People have written letters, composed songs, and drawn fan art of my stories, but my most memorable interaction was an email I received from a young girl who survived cancer—she told me that Cara from The Heartbreakerswas one of the most realistic portrayals of a cancer patient she’s ever read.

The question I get asked the most when talking to readers is, “Will there be a sequel to My Life With the Walter Boys?”.  To which the answer is…maybe.

Miranda: My new book Jesse’s Girl is about a girl named Maya who, for her school's career day, gets to spend a day shadowing teen country music superstar Jesse Scott. Jesse loves his fans, but he doesn't it like it when they mob him. He likes it when they politely ask for his autograph, but don't jump on him or kiss him in the process. As a gentleman, he doesn't like it when girls ask him to sign their body parts. Jesse often escapes to the lake when he needs some peace and quiet. He loves fishing and nature.

Is there a specific fan interaction that has been memorable to your hero? Yes! When Jesse meets the main character of Jesse’s Girl (Maya Henry), he's rude to her. In response, Maya storms out on him and tells him she'll see if she can work HIM into HER schedule. :)

As for me, my favorite fan interaction is when Jen Fisher (@Cupcakegirly) made awesome horsie cupcakes in honor of my 4th book, Racing Savannah. (See picture below) And the question I get asked most is: "When are Sam and Jordan getting married?" The answer = read my new book Jesse’s Girl! ;-)

About THE HEARTBREAKERS
Stella will do anything for her sick sister, Cara—even stand in line for an autographed Heartbreakers CD…for four hours. She’s totally winning best birthday gift this year. At least she met a cute boy with soft brown hair and gorgeous blue eyes while getting her caffeine fix. Too bad she’ll never see him again.

Except, Stella’s life has suddenly turned into a cheesy love song. Because Starbucks Boy is Oliver Perry – lead singer for the Heartbreakers. And even after she calls his music crap, Oliver still gives Stella his phone number. And whispers quotes from her favorite Disney movie in her ear. OMG, what is her life?

But how can Stella even think about being with Oliver – dating and laughing and pulling pranks with the band – when her sister could be dying of cancer?

About JESSE’S GIRL
Everyone at Hundred Oaks High knows that career mentoring day is a joke. So when Maya said she wanted to be a rock star, she never imagined she'd get to shadow the Jesse Scott, Nashville's teen idol.

But spending the day with Jesse is far from a dream come true. He's as gorgeous as his music, but seeing all that he's accomplished is just a reminder of everything Maya's lost: her trust, her boyfriend, their band, and any chance to play the music she craves. Not to mention that Jesse's pushy and opinionated. He made it on his own, and he thinks Maya's playing back up to other people's dreams. Does she have what it takes to follow her heart-and go solo?
