Her wicked revenge, or his wicked heart…
Hazel McCallister loves her life. Perfect grades. Perfect best friend. Perfect boyfriend. Until her perfect boyfriend cheats on her with her perfect best friend. Now Hazel’s in free fall—until her best friend’s brother, Felix, gives her the perfect idea. Reclaim her power by taking revenge on her cheating ex.
Felix James loves his life. Casual relationships. Loads of surfing. He’s as drama-free as they come. But he can’t stand by when his sister steals her best friend’s boyfriend, and the dude insists it was Hazel’s fault. So Felix vows to help turn Hazel into a girl her ex can’t resist—so then she can break his heart.
With an alliance in place, Hazel’s revenge is all but assured. But with each piece of payback, she feels a stronger attraction to Felix, even though revenge will turn her into a girl Felix could never be with. And soon Hazel has to make an impossible choice: revenge…or Felix, the boy who’s stolen her heart.
WARNING! This book contains betrayal, revenge, and that most tempting vice of all, the bad boy you know you can’t have.

Sometimes the best romances are the ones that happen when you least except them to. That's the case with Felix and Hazel. These have known each other for years. Being that Hazel and Felix's sister have been best friends since they were little. I loved that not only do Hazel and Felix have history, they also have the perfect banter that is obvious there's something more than lighthearted fun between the two of them. It's not obvious to the two of them, at least at first.

What starts out as revenge against Felix's sister, and Hazel's one time BFF, and Hazel's less than stellar ex boyfriend (I side with Felix on his thoughts on him), turns into something much more. It's fitting that all this is happening right around Valentine Days! What makes this book's romance perfect is the way in which Hazel and Felix realized their feelings for each other. Through revenge. This revenge wasn't one that was mean, but more to get back at the two cheaters and make the ex-boyfriend realize what he's lost. It's through the revenge, and pretending to be dating, that readers are able to really get to know more about Felix and Hazel, and fall in love with the two of them, as they're falling for each other.

I loved seeing these two work through their denial in liking each other, to liking each other, and not knowing how to really cross that line, and then admitting their feelings and becoming something much more real, finally! My favorite part of their story, is the banter between Felix and Hazel. It's comical at times. I loved that they both can dish out the comebacks and one lines they throw at each other, as well as take them. They love to razz each other. They also have those nicknames for each other you'd except from a relationship like theirs. Their relationship felt genuine and realistic to me. I loved that. It's one I'd except from your BFF's older brother, someone who's been apart of your life for such a long time, yet there's never been anything more than just that between them. Until now. Seeing these two realize how they both have always felt for each other was hilarious, and sigh worthy all at the same time.

I'm not a huge contemporary YA reader, but I have been a long time Heidi Kling fan. This is one read I enjoyed. It was the perfect, fluffy, light hearted YA contemporary I needed to spend the afternoon reading.

  1. Awesome review Katie. <3 I'm glad you liked this one, despite not fully loving it :) This isn't my kind of genre either, lol, so not a book for me :) But you do make it seem pretty cute.
