Happy Monday! Welcome to the next stop in the A Week of Mondays blog tour, hosted by Fierce Reads. I am so thrilled to have Jessica stop by Mundie Moms today. I adore her, and I'm so excited about her new release. A Week of Monday follows the story of Ellie, who has to relive the worst Monday of her life... There's a lot more to her story, but just the thought of reliving a Monday doesn't sound fun. Jessica is here to talk to us about what she'd do if she had to relive a Monday, over and over again.
AUTHOR GUEST POST with JESSICA BRODY
If you could relive the same day over and over again, what would you do? What would you change? Would you change yourself?
As I started writing A WEEK OF MONDAYS, I knew I wanted this to be a reinvention story. I wanted Ellie to essentially re-create herself every single day in order to figure out who she really is by the end. Because that’s what we do, isn’t it? We try on different personas. We post different kinds of pictures on Instagram. We reinvent ourselves over and over in hopes of finding our true identity.
The key to Ellie’s reinvention, when it came to this novel, was her 7 different looks for the 7 different Mondays. Each day she tries on a different version of herself. Fortunately, for this piece of the story, I had help. My little sister, Terra Brody, is an assistant costume designer in Los Angeles. She’s worked on hit TV shows such as Pretty Little Liars, Scandal, and Shameless. For each Monday, I gave her “character notes” for the role Ellie was trying to play and she helped me put together a concept board to represent the “look” for that day. She does similar boards for when she’s costuming a character in a TV show.
As part of the A WEEK OF MONDAYS blog tour, I’ll be sharing 6 of the 7 concept boards that we created for the book, as well as the final “looks” we put together for each Monday.
The 7th board is a secret…as is Ellie’s true identity. (Until you read the book, anyway.) ☺

Character Notes: Ellie is starting to think she’ll be trapped in this day forever and that nothing she does makes any differences. There are no consequences. Because no matter how many different thinks she tries, she still wakes up every morning and everything about the previous day has been erased. With that in mind, Ellie breaks ALL the rules and becomes the rebellious version of herself she’s always been too afraid to let out.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Jessica Brody knew from a young age that she wanted to be a writer. She started self “publishing” her own books when she was seven years old, binding the pages together with cardboard, wallpaper samples, and electrical tape.
After graduating from Smith College in 2001 where she double majored in Economics and French and minored in Japanese, Jessica later went on to work for MGM Studios as a Manager of Acquisitions and Business Development. In May of 2005, Jessica quit her job to follow her dream of becoming a published author.
Since then, Jessica has sold over twelve novels for teens, tweens, and adults including 52 Reasons to Hate My Father, The Karma Club, My Life Undecided, and the three books in the Unremembered trilogy, the first of which is currently in development as a major motion picture by the producers of The Vampire Academy, Zero Dark Thirty, Life of Pi, and Slumdog Millionaire. In 2016, she will release two new contemporary novels, A Week of Mondays(August) and Boys of Summer (April), and in 2017, her debut middle grade novel entitled, Addie Bell’s Shortcut to Growing Up, will hit bookstore shelves.
Jessica also writes books for the Descendants: “School of Secrets” series, based on the hit Disney Channel Original movie, Descendants!
