TRAVELER by Arwen Elys Dayton / Blog Tour: Guest Post & Giveaway #seekerseries

Hello and welcome to today's blog tour stop for TRAVELER by Arwen Elys Dayton, hosted by Random House. I am so thrilled to have Arwen Elys Dayton on the blog today. She's stopped by to talk about her new release Traveler, which is the sequel to Seeker. Both of these books are must have reads for fans of Fantasy! My reviews for both books will be up shortly. In the mean time, please check out Arwen's video below:

ARWEN ELYS DAYTON AND MUNDIE MOMS

I’m here today to answer the question, “What’s different between writing the first book and writing a sequel?”

This is the first time I have written a sequel, so it’s the first time I can even try to answer this question.

In Book 1, I spent a lot of time setting up the world with the different families and the history and how things had gotten to the place where the book begins, where Quin discovers that being a Seeker is not at all what she hoped it would be.

In Book 2, so much of the world was set that there was a chance to open more doors and let the bigger tapestry of the story show itself. I got to start right off the bat introducing new characters, dangers, and challenges, and that was very exciting as a writer to get going that quickly.

Another thing that happens in the sequel is you realize the characters are telling you what they are going to do, more than you telling the characters what they are going to do, because they have grown into full people. It became more of a democracy, I felt, in terms of what I imagine could happen and what the characters would do. Luckily, I still get to put them through hell, which makes it a lot of fun.

A little more about SEEKER and TRAVELER…

SEEKER is the story of three teenagers who have spent most of their lives training for what they think is a noble purpose – to be Seekers - only to discover that their families are actually turning them into assassins.  In TRAVELER, as they try to break away from this fate, or maybe embrace it, they discover that the world of Seekers is larger than they’d realized, and they become entangled in a plan begun generations ago that immediately threatens their very survival.

Thank you so much to Mundie Moms for having me on the site today.
Thank you Arwen for stopping by today!

ABOUT THE BOOK

Series: Seeker Series #2

Quin Kincaid is a Seeker. Her legacy is an honor, an ancient role passed down for generations. But what she learned on her Oath night changed her world forever.

Quin pledged her life to deception. Her legacy as a Seeker is not noble but savage. She was trained to be an assassin. And the boy she once loved is out for vengeance, with her family in his sights.

Yet Quin is not alone. Shinobu, her oldest companion, might now be the only person she can trust. The only one who wants answers as desperately as she does.

But the deeper they dig into the past, the darker things become. They are long-vanished Seeker families, shadowy alliances, and something else: a sinister plan begun generations ago with the power to end the legacy forever. And it might destroy them all.

Shadowhunters TV: The Cast Graces the Cover of BELLO Magazine!

On news stands today! The cast of Shadowhunters graces the cover of BELLO magazine. Here's a look inside at some of the photos from Bello's photoshoot:

What a great photo shoot! I love this cast. Of the Shadowhunters edition, Bello had this to say,

"Our new Young Hollywood – Special Shadowhunters issue – is OUT!
Inside this issue exclusive photoshoots + interviews with Katherine McNamara, Emeraude Toubia, Harry Shum Jr, Alberto Rosende, Dominic Sherwood, Matthew Daddario and  Isaiah Mustafa.  You can get your copy worldwide in one or two easy steps.
Download BELLO mag App (details here) and or order your print copy here.
So often in Hollywood an attractive and talented bunch hits the airwaves with the possibility of becoming the next big thing, Freeform’s Shadowhunters seems to a contender for this very title, launching the network’s new name with their premier episode. I interviewed each one of the series’ stars on the day before their lives could potentially change forever. To no one’s surprise it was an exciting conversation to be had on both parts.
So, why not start 2016 off with one of the most buzzed about shows of the season? In doing so, something tells me we’ll be well ahead of the game. Here’s to the glitz of young Hollywood. "

This sounds like a must have for Shadowhunters fans! Find out more about this edition from Bello, here

Thank you to @NephilimUpdates & @MInstrumentsUK for sharing these pictures of the cast on Twitter! *I'll be adding more pictures through out the day.

Ten Books I've Recently Added To My TBR List / Top Ten Tuesday #50

Hello & welcome to this week's Top Ten Tuesday! This week's topic is 10 Books I've Recently Added To My TBR List. My previous Top Ten Tuesday post was, Ten 2015 Releases I Meant To Get To, But Didn't.

These titles are some of my most recent additions to my 2016 TBR list on Goodreads. They need much of an introduction as to why I added them to my TBR list, other than they sound like good reads, and they're books I'm looking forward to reading this year. Except of course for the last two books in Susan Dennard's The Witchland series, though I won't complain if she releases the last 3 books this year *wishful thinking*. Since some of these titles won't be released until later this year, they don't yet have covers available, so their cover is not featured below.

  1. Empire of the Dust by Eleanor Herman
  2. The Requiem Red by Brynn Chapman
  3. Flight of Dreams by Ariel Lawhon
  4. The Witchlands #2-#4 by Susan Dennard
  5. Nevernight by Jay Kristoff
  6. Transference by Bethany Wiggins
  7. Siren by Kiera Cass
  8. A Week of Mondays by Jessica Brody
  9. The Fate of the Tearling by Erika Johansen
  10. My Unscripted Life by Lauren Morrill
What are some of the titles you've most recently added to your TBR lists for this year?
