When Earth intercepts a message from a long-extinct alien race, it seems like the solution the planet has been waiting for. The Undying's advanced technology has the potential to undo environmental damage and turn lives around, and Gaia, their former home planet, is a treasure trove waiting to be uncovered.

For Jules Addison and his fellow scholars, the discovery of an alien culture offers unprecedented opportunity for study... as long as scavengers like Amelia Radcliffe don't loot everything first. Mia and Jules' different reasons for smuggling themselves onto Gaia put them immediately at odds, but after escaping a dangerous confrontation with other scavvers, they form a fragile alliance.

In order to penetrate the Undying temple and reach the tech and information hidden within, the two must decode the ancient race's secrets and survive their traps. But the more they learn about the Undying, the more their presence in the temple seems to be part of a grand design that could spell the end of the human race...

This was such a fun read. If you're a fan of Indiana Jones and space, you may enjoy this book. There's something about the mix of the two styles that made this book a fun, fast paced read. There's plenty of action, danger, twists, and a little bit of romance that kept me hooked, and left me wanting the next book.

One of the things that made this book so intriguing was the setting. Space has always fascinated me, and I've always believed in the 'what-ifs' and endless possibilities of what could be there. This story definitely lived up to the aspect. The setting, and all the Jules and Mia encountered through out the story was intriguing to me. I really like the space archaeology aspect of the story. It was fascinating.

Jules and Mia were interesting in characters. Thankfully my first impressions of them, especially of Jules, were wrong. It took awhile for both of them to grow on me. Their story and setting hooked me long before they did as characters. There was a certain scene between the two of them that ended up changing my perspective of them. From that moment on I really enjoyed seeing the two of them not only work together, but they changed, and became characters who's next story I can't wait to read.

Kauffman and Spooner's writing never ceases to amaze me. There are some great twists and surprises in this book. Just as I start to get things figured out, I felt like a new twist was thrown into the story. Talk about a cliffhanger! My word I need more! I'm not sure if there was more to the ending in the published book, as my review is based on the arc, but that was brutal. I mean that in a good way. My only complaint is having to wait for the sequel, though I imagine it will be worth the wait.
